STUDENT INFO           

·      CALL FOR ART: The 17th Annual All Media Student Art Show will be held at the Manhattan Beach Art Center March 24 – April 2. All students are encouraged to participate. Work can be any medium. Prizes will be awarded in the categories of drawing, painting, photography, mixed media, sculpture, and ceramics. See your art teacher or Mrs. Heredia in Room 62 for more info and official entry form. Deadline to submit work is March 17.

·      The most popular 9th through 12th grade dance has arrived. Everyone come to the MCHS Student Store to get tickets for the Sadie Hawkins Dance on March 25 at the Embassy Suites Hotel. Ticket vouchers are also available on the ASB Webstore. Prices will go up next week, so get your tickets now!

·      Come to the Our Beauty Assembly on Saturday, Mar. 11 at the Mira Costa small theater! Reserve your FREE ticket with [email protected] to enjoy free food, art, and live performances!

·      What exactly do you know about this school where you will have spent four years of your life, and nearly 30,000 students have graduated before you? The Mira Costa History Project is dedicated to researching, writing and preserving the memory of the people and events that have shaped our high school. Next year the History Project is also becoming a class you can take to become a part of this incredible adventure. Bring your friends and your lunch to Mr. Currier's Room 222 this Friday at Lunch and start finding out what few people know about the very beginnings of Mira Costa. We'll start in the 1800s! Spots in the new class will be limited. Come hear more and ask questions.

·      Interested in an adventure? Come to Belize next year during Spring Break 2018 with Mr. Chow. Climb pyramids, zip line through the jungle and swim with sharks! See Mr. Chow in Room 47 for more info.

·      Sign-ups for the 3 on 3 March Madness Basketball Tournament end Friday, 3/10. Signup in the ASB room; the cost per team is $10.

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

·      Do you like eating cookies and/or taking naps? Then come to the Cookie and Nap Club this Friday at Room 20 at lunch. Be sure to bring your friends. Cookies provided.

SPORTS

·      BOYS’ LACROSSE takes on Santa Monica at HOME right after school TODAY! The games to date all have been exciting & high scoring, with a varsity record of 3-1 so far.  Varsity plays at 3 pm followed by JV at 5:00 pm. There will be incredibly yummy Acai bowls being sold at the game too…so come hungry and wear green & gold to cheer on the lax boys!

·      Come to the Mira Costa Dance Team’s pre-audition workshop on Thursday, Mar. 23 from 4-6 pm in Room 81 to meet some of the varsity Dance Team members, learn routines, and gain important information about auditions.

·      El Camino Bound Students – After you take your ECC assessment test, your next step towards priority registration is to meet with an ECC Counselor. There will be an ECC Counselor available in the CCC to meet with you on Wednesdays from 12:20pm – 2:40pm. Reserve your appointment date and time in the CCC.

·      Career Speaker Series Professionals in various industries will visit the CCC to speak about their careers and the path they took to get there. This is a great opportunity to learn about different careers and the steps you need to take to gain opportunities for internships and to land your dream job. Please sign-up on Naviance or in the CCC. ·      SoCal Roc is now enrolling for its 9-week courses. Classes begin Monday, April 10. Sign up now to speak with a SCROC advisor and pick up an application in the Career Center.

·      Featured Program: Aerospace Engineering at Texas A & M Camp Soar 2017 Summer Opportunities in Aerospace Research – A six-day summer camp designed to expose upcoming high school juniors and seniors with an interest in aerospace engineering to the research and facilities at Texas A & M University’s Department of Aerospace Engineering. During the week, students will be able to explore the field through hands-on design-build projects of airplanes, rockets, helicopters or air ships. Camp fee, including participation, housing and meals, is $600. There will be a limited number of partial scholarships available for those with a demonstrated need.  To apply go to: http://engineering.tamu.edu/aerospace/campsoar. Applications are due April 1.
