FACULTY

·      Please release the following teams TODAY:

·      Teachers... the Mira Costa History Project is looking for yearbooks from 1990 through 2000 specifically, but is also interested in any yearbooks sitting on shelves in classrooms, closets, wherever. We have few or no copies of certain years in our library. The History Project intends to have a complete set available for research/reference purposes. Please send any orphan yearbooks to Chuck Currier, Room 222, x5086. We also want to replenish our library collection.

STUDENT INFO           

·      Want to see Karl Kurz shave his beard? Come into Room 238 TODAY to vote for your favorite style of nasty beard: Batman, Question Mark, or the half-beard style. All proceeds go to cancer research.

·      The reception for the All Media Art Show is TODAY, Friday 3/24 at the Manhattan Beach Art Center. The event is free and open to the public, featuring student artwork, live performance from student band Ghost Dad, awards and food. Open from 6-9pm at the MB Art Center (1560 Manhattan Beach Blvd., across from Polliwog Park). Stop by on your way to the Loyola game!

·      If you are interested in joining National Honor Society next year, please come to Room 45 for a brief informational meeting during lunch on Tuesday, 3/28, Wednesday, 3/29, or Thursday, 3/30.

·      Community Service Opportunity: Come log some hours helping out at the Grand View Fair on Sunday, April 30 from 11 am – 3 pm at Grand View Elementary. We need volunteers to look after kids in the bouncies, on the obstacle course and to help in the arts and crafts booth. Come for the entire time or just for two hours, whatever works with your schedule. Contact Julie Tendoesschate at 310-922-6575 or email [email protected] for more information.

·      Applications for the 2017-2018 National Honor Society are now available on the school website. If you have specific questions about the application or process, please see Mrs. Cabrera in Room 45.

·      Tickets still available for Sadie Hawkins Dance & Casino Night this Saturday, Mar. 25, 7:30-11 pm at Embassy Suites in El Segundo. Come beat Dr. Dale at poker! Tickets available (MCHS students only) at the Student Store through TODAY.

·      Biotechnology Applications are out! Freshmen, come by room 352A to pick up an application ASAP – Deadline to submit is Friday, April 14! Students who complete this 3-year pathway will graduate Mira Costa High School with experience and materials that rival that of a college graduate with a science major. They will enter undergraduate labs well equipped to perform virtually any technical application and/or they will be competitive applicants for paid internships and jobs in biotechnology. Swing by Room 352A during PM Office Hours on Wednesday, March 29 for more information.

SENIORS

·      Seniors: Any Graduation Announcements that were not picked up can be retrieved at the Student Store at snack or lunch.  

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

·      Interested in Cyber Security?  Want to know more about CyberMustangs to see if you want to compete with us next fall? Join us Saturday March 25, 12-3pm in the computer lab in the math and science building for some hands-on training, meet current students, and learn more; pizza served.

·      All MCHS students are welcome to join the Mira Costa High School team at the Richstone Pier to Pier Walkathon on April 29! Join at tinyurl.com/RichstoneWalk17.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·      Visits in the CCC: Please sign-up on Naviance. If visit is during class time, please get permission from your teacher to attend.

·      Santa Monica College Super Saturday Saturday, April 1, 9AM - 4PM For high school seniors and their parents. Get help with the following:

·      El Camino Counseling Appointments – A counselor from El Camino College will be in the CCC on Wednesday afternoons. If you are planning on attending El Camino in the fall, sign up for your appointment in the CCC.

·      SoCal Roc is now enrolling for its 9-week courses. Classes begin Monday, April 10. Sign up now to speak with a SCROC advisor and pick up an application in the Career Center.

o **UPDATE**Tried and True Mock ACT (March 25) and SAT (April 1) exam location is NO LONGER in the MCHS Library. The NEW location is: First Lutheran Church, 1100 Poinsettia Ave., Manhattan Beach. Call 747-444-9907 for information.
