STUDENT INFO           

·      Attention All Juniors: There will be a presentation TODAY outlining all of the options you have for English next year including College Prep, Senior Seminars, and AP. It will be in the small theater during PM office hours TODAY. 

·      All freshmen, sophomores and juniors must vote for ASB leadership in their second period classes TODAY, 4/5, regardless if your class is attending the Scholar Quiz Assembly.

·      Correction: Biotechnology Applications (and Teacher Evaluation Forms) are due Thursday, April 20 to Mrs. Bledsoe’s Room 352 or mailbox.

·      Interested in exploring South Africa over Spring Break 2018? See Mr. Cox in room #410 during office hours on Wed. or email [email protected] if you’re unable to attend. Deadline to sign up is approaching soon.

·      Come to the Gallery, Room 60, this week to see “Heads Up,” a sculpture show from Art 2 and 3 classes.

·      Attention all Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors! Remember to vote in your second period class TODAY, even if your class is attending the Scholar Quiz Assembly.

·      Interested in photography and awesome prizes? Submit your best photos to [email protected] to be a part of La Vista’s annual photo contest! Submit all photos by Friday, April 7.

·      Take your high school experience to the next level: Join the nationally award-winning Mustang Morning News. Find out how to apply and receive AP credit for the class: bit.ly/JoinMMN.

·      The Mira Costa History Project will be an elective class next fall. This will be a unique opportunity for a select number of students to be involved in the production of a book that will become the comprehensive of Mira Costa. Enrollment is limited, and this course will be held in the evening a couple nights per week like a college class. See Mr. Currier in Room 222 at snack or lunch for an application and brief interview.

·      Community Service Opportunity: Come log some hours helping out at the Grand View Fair on Sunday, April 30 from 11 am – 3 pm at Grand View Elementary. We need volunteers to look after kids in the bouncies, on the obstacle course and to help in the arts and crafts booth. Come for the entire time or just for two hours, whatever works with your schedule. Contact Julie Tendoesschate at 310-922-6575 or email [email protected] for more information.

·      Applications for the 2017-2018 National Honor Society are due Friday, 4/7 to Room 45 or Mrs. Cabrera’s box in the office by 3:00 pm.

SENIORS

·      Please be on the Mustang Field immediately at the start of PM Office Hours TODAY for the Senior Group Yearbook Photo. If everyone is there on time, this should be quick and easy. Please leave backpacks on the bleachers. Wear Stampede shirts if you desire!

SPORTS

·      Ice Hockey: Donovan Henry stopped 42 shots against Torrance on Tuesday night in a hard fought 4-2 win. Goal scorers for Costa were Bryce Tournat, Roberto Kampfner, Mike Gallagher and Malcolm Bohan. Come out and watch the action!

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

·      Do you like cookies and/or taking naps? Then come to the Cookie and Nap Club in Room 20 at lunch this Friday. Cookies and some blankets are provided.

·      Interested in riding BMX or mountain bikes, or do you just like riding bikes in general? Come check out Bike Club in Room 234.

·      Come to the Black Scholars Union every Thursday during lunch in Room 74 to become acquainted with the African-American community on campus. People of all colors and backgrounds are welcome!

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·      Visits in the CCCPlease sign-up on Naviance. If the visit is during class time, please get permission from your teacher to attend.

o    TODAY, 4/5 Tried and True Score Back Sessions - If you took the April 1st Tried and True Mock SAT come to the CCC during AM Office Hours for your scores.  If you took the March 25th Tried and True Mock ACT come to the CCC during PM Office Hours for your scores.

·      Career Speaker Series: Professionals in various industries will visit the CCC to speak about their careers and the path they took to get there. This is a great opportunity to learn about different careers and the steps you need to take to gain opportunities for internships and to learn about your future dream job. Please sign up on Naviance or in the CCC. All grade levels are welcome! Watch the bulletin for additional speakers.

o    Women in Business/Lean In: Taking Chances With Confidence – Lily Chang **Rescheduled for Wednesday,  April 26 at 9:27am (AM Office Hours)**

·      SoCal Roc will be closed TODAY through April 9. Classes will resume Monday, April 10.

·      El Camino Counseling Appointments – A counselor from El Camino College will be in the CCC on Wednesday afternoons. If you are planning on attending El Camino in the fall, sign up for your appointment in the CCC.

·      Featured Program – Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-ARC) Design Immersion Days, June 19 – July 15 This is an immersive four-week summer program that introduces high school students to careers in architecture and design as they explore how products, buildings and environments are designed and made. *Develop a series of design projects with one-on-one mentoring from SCI-ARC faculty *Learn design software *Build a portfolio for college admissions *Visit iconic sites, museums and design studios in Los Angeles.
