o   Thu 8/31 – CANCEL Football (JV) release/game postponed; Girls’ Golf* at 1:20 pm; Girls’ Tennis at 10:20 am (SoCal Team Championships in OC)

STUDENT INFO           

·      GSA or Gender Sexuality Alliance meets Thursdays (TODAY) at lunch in Mr. Zeoli’s Room 23.

·      Comedy Sportz Auditions are next Thursday, Sept. 7 at 3:15 pm in Room 20! Need some help before auditions? Learn tips from people on the team at the Audition workshop on Monday, Sept. 4 in Room 20 from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Pick up an audition packet in Room 20 by Sept. 7!

·      Hey, everybody! Wear your Stampede Shirt this Friday 9/1 to join your fellow students on the mound at lunch for fun and games.

·      Audition & Crew applications are now available for Mira Costa Drama/Tech’s fall season. Come by the Shop (Building W) or the Auditorium to pick one up. They are due Sept. 1.

·      Students: Check your books NOW and report any damages (missing pages, water damage, writing, etc…) within 2 weeks to avoid being held responsible. You must come to the Library to report any damages. According to the new school-wide policy, this year you MUST have your physical Student ID with you to check out any library or textbook materials.

·      Attention all Freshmen interested in ASB! TODAY, 8/31 and Friday, 9/1 there is an intro session in Room 41. In order to run for ASB, you are required to attend one of the two meetings.

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

·      Come to Friendship Circle Club! If you enjoy making lasting friendships, hanging out and having a good time – all while earning community service hours – this is the place for you! Every Tuesday and Thursday (TODAY) in Room 73.

·      Come to the first GALS (Girls Advancing Leadership in STEM) Club meeting next Friday, Sept. 8 in Mrs. Hearn’s Room 350 at lunch. Our goal is to help younger kids and ourselves learn about and become involved in the STEM field. We’d love to see you there.

·      Interested in engineering? Come learn about Mira Costa’s Solar Cup Team at lunch on Wednesday, Sept. 6 in Ms. Weaver’s Room 112 and help build a boat that runs on solar power!

·      Math Club is the only club that counts. Come to Room 131 on Tuesdays during lunch.

·      Ping Pong Club meets every Friday (tomorrow) at lunch in the Fisher Gym. Come and play Ping Pong!

·      Come to Game Club and explore all of the possibilities. If you like poker, dungeons and dragons, or console gaming, this is the place for you! Fridays after school in Room 40. Everybody is welcome.

·      Come to Latino Scholars Union every Tuesday at lunch in Room 73 (Mrs. Martinez) to be a part of the Latino Community while enjoying some snacks. Everyone is welcome!

SPORTS

·      Any girl interested in Girls’ Water Polo for the winter season, please come to the pool TODAY during 6th period or after school.

·      Girls’ Lacrosse tryouts are next week: Tuesday, 9/5, Wednesday, 9/6 , Thursday, 9/7 and Friday, 9/8. Meet at Pennekamp from 3 – 4:30 pm. No experience necessary, but you must have a mouthguard. Please also bring lacrosse stick, goggles, cleats and running shoes. If you are in a fall sport but want to try out, please email [email protected].

·      Boys’ Basketball tryouts will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 at Manhattan Beach Middle School TONIGHT. If you are a junior or senior interested in trying out, please contact coach Amaral directly at [email protected].

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·      JUNIORS AND SOPHOMORES - PSAT REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN ONLINE

The test will begin at 7:00am on October 11 at MCHS. To register online, please go the MCHS website and click on the “PSAT” icon OR the “Store” tab and select ASB Webstore.

In-person registration will be available September 13, 14, and 15 in the CCC. 

Registration cost is $25.  Your final opportunity for LATE registration will be September 18th and 19th online or in person during lunch in the CCC. Late registration cost is $35. After you register online, bring your receipt to the CCC to pick-up your PSAT Study Guide. Please contact the CCC with any questions.

·      So Cal Roc will present an information session TODAY, Aug. 31 during lunch (12:20pm) in the CCC.  SoCal Roc is still accepting applications for the fall 2017 semester. Classes begin Sept. 11. Come to the CCC to sign up and learn more about the classes we offer.

·      College Representative Visits in the CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend.

This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign-up to attend on NAVIANCE.
