STUDENT INFO           

·        Girls’ Volleyball takes on Mater Dei in the CIF Semifinals Tuesday at 7 pm at Mater Dei High School. The team would love your support! Sign up to ride the rooter bus with Ms. Gardner in the admin building. Bus leaves at 5 pm from school. We need at least 30 students signed up by noon TODAY!

·        To the Windows. To the Walls. Art 2 & 3 classes present a new show in the art gallery. Come check it out all week in Room 60 at lunch.

·        The Fall Production of Almost, Maine continues Wednesday Nov. 9 at 4 pm, Thurs. Nov 10 at 6:30 pm, Friday Nov. 11 at 7:30 and Saturday Nov. 12 at 2 pm & 7:30 pm. Ticket prices are $12 for students and seniors and $15 for adults. The Wednesday, Nov. 9 show is $5 for MCHS students.

SENIORS

·        Reminder: Seniors Cap & Gown and Graduation Announcements & Senior Ring orders by Jostens TODAY, Nov. 8 from 7:30 am – 2 pm outside the CCC, and this evening from 6:30 – 8 pm in the Library; or order online at Jostens.com.

SPORTS

  • Mustang Football will host Paramount at home in the first round of the CIF playoffs Friday at 7 pm. Go Mustangs!
  • Spread the word! Costa is starting a Girls’ 7s Rugby Team. Sevens is a little less physical than 15s, which our boys play. It’s a winter sport with games starting in January! Most of our State Champion Boys Team had never played rugby, so don’t worry if you are new to the game – we’ll teach you everything you need to know. Practices are Tuesday through Friday from 2:15 to 3:30 pm on the back field (between Meadows and the Gym). Contact [email protected] or [email protected] for more info.
  • Boys’ Basketball tryouts have been moved. The new tryout date is TODAY from 7 – 9 pm at Manhattan Beach Middle School. Please email Coach Amaral directly if you are an upper-classman interested in trying out for Varsity at [email protected].

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

·        It’s Election Day! Come to Young Republicans Club TODAY in Mrs. Vaughan’s Room 207 at lunch!

·        Improv Club is every Tuesday (TODAY) at lunch in the Drama Room 1. Come to see fun games done by even funnier people.

·        Come visit the Ladies Aid Club in Room 20 on Thursdays at lunch. We focus on the empowerment and health of people in need.

·        Do you think the world is perfect? If you said no, you aren’t alone; so come to Human Equality Club Wednesdays in Room 203 to talk about important issues and needs for the betterment of society. Human Equality Club is a safe club where we will cover many types of equality including racial, gender, religious, and LGBTQ and rights.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·         College Visits – Please sign up on Naviance If visit is during class, please ask your teacher for permission.

o   TODAY 11/8Santa Monica College Application Workshop at 12:20pm.

o   Thursday 11/10 Reed College at 8:00am, U.S. Army Scholarship Presentation at 12:20pm.

·         CCC Updates

The CCC will now be open from 8 am – 7 pm Monday-Thursday and 8 am – 5 pm on Fridays. We hope you can take advantage of the extra hours and our extended services.

*College Application Workshop Wednesdays from 2:00-7:00pm. Walk in and work on your college applications and personal statements with support from a CCC counselor. Bring a device or reserve one in the CCC.

*Ninth Grade Planning Meetings in the CCC – on multiple dates to accommodate small groups: Evening meetings (6-7pm) 11/9, 15; 12/1, 5, 14. Daytime meetings: (9-10am) 11/17, 12/8, 9, 13.  Topics include: 9th grade planning, 4-year planning graduation requirements, A-G College entrance requirements, academic goals, extracurricular activities, and how to stay in touch. Go to the CCC Calendar on the MCHS website to sign up. ** The CCC will close at 3:30pm on 11/16, and 12/7; please plan accordingly.

·         SCROC is now enrolling for its 9-week courses. Classes begin Monday, Nov. 14. Sign up in the Career Center to speak with a SCROC advisor and pick up an application.

·            Test Prep Resources:

o  Attention Juniors, on Nov. 12 there will be a Free SAT/ACT Combo Practice Test held by Kaplan Test Prep to help students decide between the SAT or ACT. Participants will receive their scores instantly. The practice test will be held at Westwood Kaplan Center from 9:00am-12:30pm as well as Live Online. Sign up at www.kaptest.com/practicetestweekend.

o  Revolution Prep is offering free online practice tests. Sign up using this link: https://www.revolutionprep.com/jk-practice-test. Download practice tests and take them in the comfort of your own home.

o  PJ Test Prep is offering Free SAT/ACT Tests on Saturday, Nov. 19 and Sunday, Dec. 4 starting at 10:00am.
