TODAY, 2/22 – Black History Month Assembly, 4th period in Auditorium

THURSDAY, 2/23 8th Grade Parent Night/Breakout Sessions (6:15pm A-K, 7:30pm L-Z in Math/Science Building)

FRIDAY, 2/24 Seniors’ Scholarship Notebooks due to the CCC; no exceptions.

WEDNESDAY, 3/1 Scholar Quiz sign-ups begin at 6:45 am in the Auditorium lobby

                                                                                                                                                        

STUDENT INFO           

·      Attention all club leaders! All first semester club reports along with a completed club roster are due at our club council meeting next Tuesday, Feb. 28 at lunch.

·      Scholar Quiz sign-ups will be held on Wednesday, Mar. 1 beginning at 6:45 am in the Auditorium lobby on a first-come, first-served basis. All grades are welcome. Please fill out the Team Entry form (available on the Mira Costa website) and bring it with you. Forms will also be available in the office. We are limited to 64 teams. Competition dates are March 29, 30, 31 and April 3, 4, 5.

·      Need community service? Or just want to have FUN? Be part of history and paint with Portraits of Hope by helping with their newest civic art project, “Promoting Pet Adoption through Animal Shelter Revitalizations.” Sign up NOW for their Sat/Sun painting sessions at [email protected]. CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

·      Learn how to spread awareness about racism and different religions at Club Harmony on Thursday in Room 207.

·      Whoever said money can’t buy happiness was lying. Come to Investors’ Club every Tuesday in Room 225.

·      Club Presidents: Club photos for the yearbook are starting this week! Go to the link http://bit.ly/2ljNtKn or email [email protected] if you have any questions.

·      Submit poetry, prose, or photography to [email protected] to be featured in our annual publication. Reflections is the literary and artistic magazine for Mira Costa, and we meet every Monday in Room 207.

 

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·      Visits in the CCC: Please sign-up on Naviance. If the visit is during class time, please get permission from your teacher to attend.

o   TODAY, Feb. 22USC School of Cinematic Arts at 12:20pm.

o   Thursday, Feb. 23Univ. of Alabama at 12:20pm.

 

·      SENIORS:  If you are participating in the Scholarship Notebook Program, notebooks are DUE THIS FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 24. No exceptions.

·      El Camino College Applicants – If you have completed your ECC assessment testing, you can now set up an individual appointment to meet with an ECC Counselor in the CCC. Appointments are available on Wednesdays beginning TODAY from 12:20pm – 2:40pm. Sign-up is required and is available in the CCC.

·      Career Speaker Series Professionals in various industries will visit the CCC to speak about their careers and the path they took to get there. This is a great opportunity to learn about different careers and the steps you need to take to gain opportunities for internships and to land your dream job. Please sign-up on Naviance or in the CCC. All grade levels are welcome! Watch the bulletin for additional speakers. February speakers:

o  Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 12:20pm Aerospace, ROTC, cyber, special operations, intelligence – Col. Anthony Meeks.

·      Featured Program: Bucknell University Summer Experience – Faculty and students from across academic areas share expertise to find innovative solutions to pressing issues. As a participant, you will learn to consider similar ideas from different academic perspectives and build collaboration and presentation skills through exploring questions.
