June, 2010 Dear Mustang Athletes, Families and Fans, It has been my great pleasure to be your Athletic Director this year. Countless times the athletes have impressed me with their talent and dedication in the classroom and on the field of play. Our parents and fans have demonstrated unwavering support of all of our athletic programs and our coaches have worked hard to bring us through yet another winning year. In fact, this year, every single team - and that's 25 teams - has successfully reached the playoffs with many of them going quite deep into CIF competition! I'm told that it has been well over a decade since this has happened and it was the efforts of the kids, the coaches and the parents who got us there. This year alone, we have two CIF-SS Champions, three CIF-SS finalists, two CIF-SS semifinalists, four CIF-SS quarterfinalists and 13 other teams who made it to the second round of the playoffs or sent individual athletes on to higher competition! That's simply amazing! I am so very proud of all of you and so honored to be part of Mustang Athletics. Coming off a 2008 - 2009 year where ESPN ranked Mira Costa 11th in the country for outstanding athletic accomplishments, I find it hard to believe that we won't break into the Top 10 for the 2009 - 2010 year. Regardless of what happens with ESPN's selection, I want you all to know that Mustang Athletics is #1 in my book - I couldn't imagine a better school or a better group of people to be associated with. As we look forward to summer and to next year's athletics, I am filled with excitement and a little sadness, too. I am giddy with anticipation for next years' seasons and competition, but I will greatly miss the seniors that are graduating and going on to bigger endeavors on and off the field.
