WHAT IS THE EAP (EARLY ASSESSMENT PROGRAM) TEST?
-A voluntary test for 11th graders that indicates readiness for the Cal State English program (and El Camino Community College)
-A voluntary component of English STAR testing that includes 15 additional multiple choice questions and a 45-minute essay
-A voluntary test that can provide exemption from the Cal State English Placement exam required after admission to Cal State (and also El Camino)
WHO SHOULD TAKE THE EAP TEST?
-Any 11th grader who is considering applying to the California State University System (or to El Camino Community College)
-Any 11th grader who wants to know if his or her skills are strong enough for exemption from the Cal State or El Camino English Placement exam
-Any 11th grader who wants to learn if he or she needs remediation in order to pass the Cal State or El Camino English Placement exam
*YOU MAY ALREADY BE EXEMPT FROM THE CAL STATE OR EL CAMINO ENGLISH PLACEMENT TEST IF YOU HAVE:
-A score of 550 or above on the verbal section of the SAT I
-A score of 680 or above on the writing test of the SAT II: Writing Test
-A score of 24 or above on the ACT English Test
-A score of 3, 4, or 5 on either the Language and Composition or Literature and Composition examination of the Advanced Placement Program
-Completion and transfer to the CSU of a college course that satisfies the requirement in English Composition with a grade of C or better.
WHEN AND WHERE WILL THE ESSAY PORTION OF THE EAP TEST BE GIVEN?
-March 9, 2010

-8:00-8:45 (1-hour Late –Start Schedule) (you should arrive at 7:45)
HOW CAN I SIGN UP?
-Sign up with your English teacher by March 2nd
-Room Assignments will follow
*IN THIS CASE, YOU WOULD NOT NEED TO TAKE THE EAP TEST
