"Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty... I have never in my life envied a human being who led an easy life. I have envied a great many people who led diffcult lives and led them well." Theodore Roosevelt, Des Moines, Iowa November 4, 1910
I will be teaching the Sophomore World History/Literature Block, World History CP and Government CP. In each of these classes I hope to build skills and content that will engage the students in the importance of the subject matter and serve them well in their post high school years.
I went to UCLA, graduating in 1983 with a BA in Political Science. After going to Loyola Law School for 1 year, I determined that though I thoroughly enjoyed the STUDY of law, the practice of law was not as enticing a prospect. I decided that nothing could be more fulfilling for a career than to take my love of history, economics and politics and try to get older students excited about the subject and to appreciate their importance in a civic society.
I have been at Mira Costa for 30 years. I have served as a teacher, Activities Director and a Vice Principal. Currently, I am the Department Chair of the Social Studies Department, a Department that is one of the finest in the State and one that I am very proud to lead.
I look forward to working with your son/daughter this year and hope that he/she will find value in the class.
