I have been in education for 34 years. My background includes: Special Day Class Teacher, Resource Specialist, Transition Specialist, Reading Specialist, AVID Coordinator, English teacher, English department chair, Teacher on Special Assignment for Writing and Literacy, and Vice Principal.
I went to UC Santa Barbara back in the day when students burned banks. Then, was a Program Director at an outdoor school in the Sierra. I returned to LA to intern at a private school for Learning Disabled students while getting my credential and Master's degree from Mt. St. Mary's College. I was hired by Beverly Hills Unified and stayed there until 2000 when I came to Costa. Currently, I am in the doctoral program in Educational Leadership at Cal State Long Beach.
I have two sons, Matthew and Andrew. Matthew is 30 and a Special Education Teacher in Olympia, Washington. Andrew is 26 and is an arborist and a rock climber in Colorado. They both went to Costa, college, and are on their own now.
My favorite subjects are Noir Literature of Los Angeles and Art. You can see these interests in my office. Also, the photos on this page are Noir authors I've tracked down. They are my celebrities.
I am honored to be part of the team here at Mira Costa. I started at Mira Costa 15 years ago as an English teacher, and now as a member of the administrative team it is an honor to serve the staff and students of this great school.
