Thanks for checking out my web page and giving me the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Michael McAvin, and I am a 45-year South Bay resident and grew in Manhattan Beach. I attended Grand View Elementary School, Center Junior High School, and graduated from Mira Costa in 1983. I currently live in Redondo Beach with my wife, Amy, who also grew up in Manhattan Beach, and we have two daughters, Jordan, who is a sixth-grader at Manhattan Beach Middle School, and Kelsey, who is a third-grader at Robinson
I attended El Camino Community College before moving on to USC where I received an undergraduate degree in English and a master's degree in Education. I also received an administrative credential from Cal State Dominguez Hills
The 2015-16 school year marks 18th year as a teacher and my 14th at Mira Costa where I teach English and journalism and serve as the coordinator for Mira Costa's Independent Studies program. I am starting my 18th year as a teacher and my 14th at Mira Costa, and I previously taught at Venice high (1998-2000) school for two years and Westchester High School (200-2002) for two years.
