Booster Activities

This Is Costa - Model UN Students host an informational booth at this school activity fair held on the Mira Costa quad one evening in the Fall every year (typically late October or early November).  The purpose of the evening is to provide 8th grade students and their parents with information about Mira Costa activities.  MUN Students, wearing proper Western Business Attire, answer any questions prospective incoming students may have about the Model UN program.  The evening is held mid-week and typically lasts about 2 hours.

New Parent Meeting - Co-hosted by the Model UN Booster Club Board and the Model UN Program Advisors one evening in mid-May in the MUN classrooms at MCHS (Room 201-202).  All parents of Intro to Model UN Students who have been accepted into the program for the following schoolyear as sophomores are invited to attend.  The Board and the Advisors explain how the Model UN program operates, communicates with parents and students, funds it's activities, how the registration process works, conference invitations & participation, fundraising activities & volunteer opportunities.   It gives parents the opportunity to meet the advisors, ask questions and purchase/pre-order MUN 'swag' (bowling shirt, luggage tags, briefcases, etc.)

Hometown Fair - MUN Students and Boosters host a booth (i.e. goldfish game) at the MB Hometown Fair. The event is led by two volunteer Chairpersons who report to the Booster Club Board and VP of Volunteers. They will use the MUN e-blasts and online sign-ups to recruit volunteers to staff this event. Both participating parents and students earn funds to add to their student's account.

Parent "Mix & Mingle" -  A parent party held in the Fall of each school year. Gives parents a chance to meet the MCHS MUN program advisors, Wayne Knutson & Annie Choi, and mingle with other MUN parents. Event is typically held at a MUN parent's house with parents volunteering to bring an appetizer, dessert or wine to share.

Mom’s Night Out - A get-together hosted by the Model UN Booster Club Board members at a local wine bar.  This evening typically is held in mid-March as a casual opportunity for the moms of MUN students to get to know one another.  At-cost tickets for attendance are sold on the MCHS Booster website prior to the date.

Year End Banquet - Celebratory year-end banquet organized by the Model UN Booster Club Board and hosted by the Model UN Advisors at a local hotel banquet room at the end of May.  Included in the evening are a slide show, senior superlatives, awards, photo booth and dinner.  Tickets for attendance are sold on the MCHS Booster website prior to the date.
