If you are looking for a tutor, the California Scholarship Federation provides a list of qualified student tutors. You can find the current list of students in the MCHS Main Office, behind the front desk. If needed, contact Karen Cunningham (kcunningham@mbusd.org) for assistance.

The list contains the names and contacts for student tutors, along with what subjects they teach, from Chemistry to Spanish to ACT Prep. CSF tutors typically charge $15 an hour, and the location of tutoring sessions is determined by the tutor and the client. This list is also provided to all five local elementary schools, Manhattan Beach Middle School, and Hermosa Valley School.

Mira Costa also offers a PTSA funded after-school tutoring program, independent of CSF. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 2:55 to 4:55pm, in the Mira Costa library. These student tutors are available at no cost, teach a variety of subjects, and take walk-ins. For more information on this program, contact Mr. Zeoli.

If you would like to become a CSF Tutor, you must fill in the tutoring form along with the membership form for each semester you would like to tutor. The pickup and drop off locations for these forms are announced each semester, during the CSF membership drive.

Anyone who wants to be a tutor in the after school program should see Mr. Zeoli in room 23 or Mr. McAvin room 122, or in the library after school. These tutors receive community service hours for their work.

The presentation and handout below contain information, skills, and strategies that will help you become a great tutor.
