I teach the courses in the Special Day Class for grades 9-12. This past August, I moved to the South Bay area from the Windy City - Chicago, Illinois! I have taught moderate/severe special education in a northwest suburb of Chicago for the past 5 years and am excited to continue my career here at Mira Costa High School!
Teaching special education is a passion of mine in life. In addition to teaching, I love spending time with my family and friends, traveling, going hiking, running, and attempting DIY projects. I also enjoy volunteering and coaching Special Olympics.
“I’ve come to a frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element in the classroom.
It’s my personal approach that creates the climate. It’s my daily mood that makes the weather.
As a teacher, I possess a tremendous power to make a child’s life miserable or joyous.
I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or heal.
In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be
escalated or de-escalated and a child humanized or dehumanized.”

"Instruction begins when you, the teacher, learn from the learner; put yourself in his place that you may understand...what he learns and the way he understands it." -Soren Kierkegard
"The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explain. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher INSPIRES." - William Arthur Ward
