Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!)
Have a business or social impact idea? The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA) is designed for middle and high school students (grades 6–12) with an entrepreneurial spirit who are ready to turn their ideas into reality. Since 2014, students from across the South Bay have participated in YEA’s 24-week program, learning how to build and launch their own legally registered businesses. During leadership workshops, students will learn how their unique personality types affect their functioning within teams. Winter 2026 HSIP will be a transformative opportunity to learn. Winter 2026 Engineering Immersion Program (E-IP)
Over the course of 9 Saturday afternoons in Winter 2026, high school students will learn about future opportunities in the Engineering field, including education and career paths, and how to develop innovative products that can have a positive impact on their surrounding world. Students will hear presentations and discussions from professionals working in the engineering field. The program consists of 9 Saturday sessions via a Zoom virtual classroom, beginning January 3 and running through February 28, 2026.
The Bronfman Fellowship The Bronfman Fellowship is an opportunity unlike any other: a space where young people who want to see the world through a lens broader than their own can explore issues with depth, candor, and joy, while forming friendships to last a lifetime.

MBUSD Medical Advisory Board - Student Members Needed!
The Manhattan Beach Unified School District Medical Advisory Board is a unique committee of South Bay medical professionals who work together to promote mutual respect and interaction between the Manhattan Beach Unified School District and the health care community. This committee comprises approximately 30 physicians and other health care professionals representing a broad range of specialties.
Youth Medical Advisory Board members will:
-Offer recommendations on youth health issues
-Provide feedback and input on Medical Advisory Board meeting topics
-Serve as ambassadors and leaders of health

MB Mayor's Youth Council
The MB Mayor's Youth Council will soon begin recruiting high school students for next year's program, which runs from September 2025 through April 2026.
Mayor's Youth Council is an exciting program that brings together high school students and professional leaders to explore leadership, careers, and civic engagement. Selected students will meet monthly and have the opportunity to meet and engage in dialogue with leaders across numerous industries, government, the arts, and more! The students will also participate in a City-sponsored event. This group of students has also been running the TEDx Salon event at Mira Costa. This program is now entering its 8th year, and it has expanded to 40 students.
They are looking for candidates who are willing to make the time commitment, step outside their comfort zone, participate in our workshops, and have fun!
Criteria to Apply:
1. Student must be a resident of Manhattan Beach or attend Mira Costa High School
2. The program is open to students who will enter the 2026-2027 school year this Fall as a Sophomore, Junior and or Senior
3. Students are only allowed to miss one meeting to remain in good standing and are expected to commit to the following dates if accepted: TBA
4. There is a registration fee, which helps cover dinner and supplies for each workshop.
Online applications for the 2026-27 Manhattan Beach Youth Council class of students will open on TBD. It is recommended that students apply within the first 2-3 days of the application opening. All students will have the opportunity to interview, and applicants are encouraged to apply again if they did not make it in their sophomore or junior year. Please read more about the program here.

YMCA California Youth & Government Program
The YMCA's Youth and Government Program, also known as Model Legislature and Court, is a statewide youth leadership and civic engagement program. Through this program, students will have the opportunity to learn about the structure of state government, develop public speaking and leadership skills, and build friendships with students across California. Students will also have the opportunity to travel to Sacramento, discuss issues of state importance, and learn how to contribute to our community.

AdventurePlex Adventure Assistant (ongoing)
- Must be 14+
- One weekly shift with a 6-month commitment
- Shifts: Sat, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. or 12-3 p.m., and Sun, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Duties:
- Ensure children experience a fun, educational, and safe environment by monitoring Adventure Room and/or Toddler Town
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in Toddler Town, Adventure Room, Patio, Restrooms, Reading Corner, Sport Court, Party Rooms, and Outdoor areas:
- Picking up discarded toys and organizing areas for continued play
- Sanitize toys or clean areas as needed
- Notify staff of any spills, hazards, and damaged or lost materials that need immediate attention
- Assist with various activities (e.g., Arts & Crafts, ropes course, rock climbing, Puppet Show, Costume Play, Story Time)
- Assist Instructors with setting up and organizing activities during classes
- Assist at the front desk with checking in/out parents and children when needed

Building & Safety Program Volunteer Opportunity
The City of Redondo Beach is proud to announce the implementation of a volunteer program in the Building & Safety Program. Through this program, students and/or residents work together with the City to preserve and improve life safety in residential neighborhoods and make Redondo Beach a better place to live and work. Since volunteers are the foundation of this program, concerned citizens will help protect the quality of life in Redondo Beach by assisting our Permit, Inspection, and Plan Review team efforts to better address the needs of all residents.
Building Inspection/Plan Check/Permit Tech Volunteers will assist Building Division staff with records reports, records requests, file management, and helping residents and community members on the phone or at the front counter. Help in our new butterfly pavilion, SOAR, and earn volunteer hours! To give volunteering a try, please sign up and view open volunteer opportunities. These are our openings for one-time, temporary volunteers. No prior training is required, but volunteers must be at least 15 years of age. Shifts are first-come, first-served and are limited, so please only sign up for shifts you know you can commit to. Due to limited capacity in the pavilion, we have a limited capacity for volunteers.
Volunteers will be interacting with the public, so make sure you feel comfortable talking with guests and standing for long periods of time before signing up. If you are interested in becoming an official SOAR Guide, there is an application and two trainings to get you up to speed. SOAR runs through July 31, so we'll need a lot of help!

South Bay Artist Collective
The South Bay Artist Collective is looking for artistic high schoolers to help them with their After School Art Program! They are a non-profit located in Hermosa Beach with a mission to support and grow the local visual arts community by creating a destination for art and creativity, while teaching and inspiring youth.
During the school year, our youth classes run from 4-5:30 p.m., but volunteers are needed from 3:45-5:45 p.m. to help set up, teach, and clean up classes. Our program also runs through the summer and needs volunteers to help run classes throughout the day. High School internship positions are also available.
