students tear greens hear your vice principal and we are so excited for the start of the school year this video should be day of school make sure that you have all the information that you need in order to connect with your teachers and your friends for the first day so hurry up your student schedule relocated it's also where grades ultimately get posted by teachers it's where you place to start get to Ares you would go to mpusd. ASP. Aeries.net and that actually takes you to this little apparent and Student Portal parent and student portal are the same URL which is really helpful for families here students to login to their areas are going to enter their mbusd apps no account parents are going to use the email that they use to enroll their student that email is captured and now a part of your login it's also a password that you created as well if you I know but you know but I don't remember the password you can actually click parents can click where it says forgot password and that'll actually take you to a page where you'll just enter your email similar to other sites where you have to reset your password the student in this case we just entered their mbusd apps account the year the last two digits of the Year their last name their first initial and musd app. Org is the naming convention and then you would click next and what's going to happen is a reset link is going to be sent to that email account would like say you're able to get in and you're able to login successfully. I'm actually going to go now to a demo site to just secure personal student information but it should look similar so I'm just going to pretend that I go to Eagle Unified School District I'm going to sign in as a student all right and from there to here is what I should see if you go to the dashboard View you should under the class summary you'll see a list of the students schedule you'll see the students. Courses that teachers their room numbers you may even see some grade books that teachers have created by the way you can't see the gray book unless the teacher has created it and so since we're still very very early in the school year they may have not been created just yet Gradebook is created you would see the students live grade within that grade book here again this is not a permanent grade in anyway it's just a way for parents and families to see progress and there's a have a blessing and a curse that comes along with being alive great book that is what you're seeing here okay so this is really helpful information for me as a student to know my classes and my. The other thing I wanted to draw your attention to is this column right here where it says website now this is a demo site so I don't see anything but you might see a butt here where it says site to hide and identity as I did I did move my window over really quickly cuz I'm actually in an Aries and website looking at visit website button what should happen is students can actually navigate to their individual teachers Google classrooms that they have set up so this is really nice you can actually bypass the join code to join the class. There are a class summary page and click this visit website button and navigate right to their teacher Google now we are asking that you do not engage in the Google Classroom yet until I want to start just wait for your teachers directions now you are you click that visit website button and it says you don't have access you will need to sign into your students in the USD apps account in order to access the Google classroom parents have no fear we're also going to invite you as Guardians teachers will be sending you an email invite to be able to view your child's Google Classroom as a parent so I feel like login with addressed it you can also independently log into Google Classroom as well teachers will be posting within their Google classrooms how students should connect with them for the first few days of school the first three days in fact so you can go there for detailed information for how to meet up with your teachers via zoom in their Google classrooms so I would have that visit website button and it took me to this classroom I'm just using a demo classroom as an example of a this is one of the teachers classroom teachers will provide information on the string. message to the students looking forward to meeting you all and directions for how to follow up you can also go to the classwork tab here and likely at the top you will see the teachers have some information for students there as also check the stream tab or the classwork tab to find out what you're going to do to meet up with each of your teachers the website the Miracles the website has been updated to now some great resources for students and for families so the first place you want to go is our website and that's Mira Costa High. Org so once you type that in it will bring you to our regular website and I've got that up here for you to see the new information I wanted to show you in this website is if you go to the very top here where it says you'll now see the drop down and the very first link here is distance Learning Hub this distance Learning Hub is going to at the time that you're watching this video it's going to contain a whole going to take you to home site that has a lot of resources for you right at your fingertips and you can find it again by hovering over where it says students and then distance Learning Hub right here under parents it's also located at top distance Learning Hub just because it's resources honestly for the entire family at the time of watching this video if you click here you will be directed to the total cost of connected web page and this close to Connected web page should contain some great resources for you so we call it posted connected and here's the home View and if I scroll down I've got a bunch of buttons so the show that I'm discussing right now will be embedded here on this button all of the pictures are hyperlinked so I could click here and navigate to the video where I'm talking right now to Welcome Back to School video we've also got school-wide expectations for students and families click here they'll be directed to an all-in-one Place school-wide expectations for 2020-2021 so emotional learning teachers those teachers that students will be meeting once a week on Wellness Wednesdays on the first day they're going to go over this with students but it's nice to know you also have it at your fingertips if you want to get a head start and start reading through I highly recommended there's great information about attendance there's information about our electronic use policy also send information about the new schedule as well as how we're going to utilize office hours and then there's a really great texting here on expectations in the classroom because we know that weren't learning I'm home some of those expectations some of those school rules have been adjusted to reflect a distance learning environment there's also the add drop deadline until navigate back now to the coast of connected page the next button I wanted to review is how to find your teacher so we received lots of information from families and we recognize that it's really tough for students to navigate all the different Zoom link for their teachers so we wanted to streamline that process and make it super super easy and if you click here how you utilize this Dora says it's going to take you to the staff page of our website and there's already existed on our website with got pictures of all of our staff and there's a very handy dandy staff search for and so I can actually just heard for my teacher this always was the case you could click here on Nicola shell for example if she's Mighty I get a little information about mrs. washer and then on the right side here I can actually send her an email so this is all up-to-date I checked it to make sure that if students are looking to email their they can do so right here they can just enter their message and it will go directly to mess with shells in box but this new feature I wanted to show you guys is this button right here where it says visit website every staff member we are up this section here so that when you click visit website the student can actually access the teachers Zoom room teachers have created one Zoom room Zoom rooms classroom numbers so just because Miss wish our teacher has six classes that they teach it doesn't change usually they're bathroom number so we're sort of trying to mimic that in a digital environment where you simply go during the. That you're assigned to your teacher but you go to work for the entire school year so back to my screen here I have pulled up I clicked that I visit website button and here I'm going to make sure that I'm signed into Zoom I'm going to open up my soon and this is good or not it actually says only authorized participants may enter that's a security measure I actually have to be signed into my mbusd apps account in order to best Miss wish I was zoom and so if I'm using some outside Gmail account to come outside other account I will not be able to get in and that's that extra layer of security that we do you want to eat to avoid things like Zone bombing so what I could do if I could enter my mbusd apps account remember that the account where it has the year you're going to graduate the last two digits of the year your last name your first initial at mdusd.org and then you'll enter your password and I already have my Google information stored on to my personal laptop so it just directs me right to miss will show me and now it's asking me for Miss with those meeting password all teachers have assigned the same password just to make it easy for students and families so the password if this ever pops up for all teachers forever returns meetings is a mustang mustang lowercase there's no capital letters and there's no s it's literally one mustang mustang all lowercase and I'm going to Clip Joint and from there I'm now in Zoom room of course waiting for her to start the meeting because she's not on right now but if this were first. And I had Miss Michelle then I would already be ready so this is a great resource for families I think it's really going to be a game-changer I'm going to go back now to where I was and to go back to the Costa connected page and remember this is going to be that distance Learning Hub this year with you guys is the bell schedule this is a quick and easy accessible way to view our new bell schedule case you forget families forget how you're going to or but I stare at a glance for you by scroll down I've got my online platforms we thought it would also be a great place to just put in one location all the most commonly use online platform that there's will be using in that students will need to access so to click it when you click that button you actually have video tutorials for each online platform so if you don't know how to log into your NBA the apps account if you don't know how to reset your password this would be a great video to watch if you're trying to login or if you don't know how to navigate Aries where to find how to find where classes are things like that this is a great video for that this is a great video for how to navigate Google classroom and some great schools for students this is how to log into them so you got school PLP and then coming soon we have I excel so that's another great all in one place way to access our online platforms here we got to school calendar TLC that's the school calendar for the year and then you'll just pay attention to the key the the different key shows like the start of school and also our holidays are legal holidays here at the time that you're watching this video is going to contain the resources for families and for students to organize their day we're going to go through how to utilize the Google The Google Calendar to do list and we'll also talk about how you should organize your Google Drive and your Google calendar are sort of replacing that paper binder 3-ring binder binder I love a good to ring binder but it's just a wave at an added layer that you need to consider when you're organizing your files and then also the Google Calendar is kind of going to be a replacement for the planet so we'll talk a little bit how students can get organized their button here is where we're going to have all of doctor Dale's post a connected issues so far he has sent out three volume three more in one place you can actually click on these links that are embedded and go to various places down here there is a button for how to find your admin or your counselor administrators are grade level assigned so that there and then counselors have a slightly different this year because of a lot of different movement on so that's the most up-to-date breakdown if you're trying to find your counselor this is a great resource this is going to be materials and supplies. teachers have indicated students will need any supplies that are required for the course the school will provide we do know that families do like to purchase supplies on their own or get a head start I want to just say I know school starts on Wednesday we are not expecting all students to have all their supplies by Wednesday that first week is really going to be a nice way to use yourself back into school you'll see that it's very flexible and it's very manageable so do not think that you need to pop on Amazon right now and expedite shipping and get everything ready for Wednesday instead though it is a good idea to begin what materials you might be needing for the same sort of begin you know if if you're interested looking at that so so here is the button you click here and what actually brings you to is a spread cheap broken down by teacher and by course so if I have I can go here a great shortcut for families if you call command to the actual keyboard of your Mac Holcomb and you can actually pull up a search window here you'll see it pop up just now and I can search for my teacher so maybe I'm going to search for my class L and 8th bring me right to her and that way I can work quickly navigate this spreadsheet that's a little tip if you have a Mac PC there's a way to do it too I just don't know but if there's a way to do like a shortcut or locate the search and you'll see that we have two columns there is a required physical text book or novel and then we have additional materials and then this last column here is just recommended or optional materials I just recommended or optional materials if you're interested in purchasing it's not it's not mandatory so I just want to remind parents and families and students that we will be doing a text book distribution in the week of September 1st and the idea is that students to also be aware of the text books that are required for their courses because when you do textbook pick up do want you to just triple check and make sure you have the books that you need for the class and then this column is additional materials not textbooks that students will need for the class and again we will provide them family is not interested in purchasing them but we did want you to be able to see that this is also a really helpful tapped and then the last button I wanted to share with you on this distance learning is also provided you the core literature for English classes by grade level the core literature it does consists of texts that all students are required to read in their English teachers are English classes excuse me but teachers can also opt to teach other text in addition to these horror novels so this is more than a basic list but if family purchase their own circuit a head start on that we wanted to make sure that you have that as well that is also located in the materials and Supplies by teacher button but we want to break out the core literature for you just for easy and then down here using this distance Learning Hub throughout the year and updating it until I just wanted you to be aware of some things that are coming things relating to Athletics testing things like the AP and sat and PSAT as we find more information about how testing will look this year we will house all of that information in this one place also began branching out and exploring some ways for students to to feel connected through Student Activities and so will be housing those items there and then I'll be safe guidelines in the most up-to-date information regarding health and wellness in this button here so I wanted to make sure that you guys were aware of this resource again how I have navigated to the resources that I just shared is you go to the main website and Hugo hovering over either students or parents and that distance Learning Hub thank you so much for watching
