good evening Mustangs it's been 380 days since we close down the school and went into distance learning but tomorrow we start the process of coming back and we're so excited the campus is ready teacher you're ready and we're ready to see you back on the campus smiling behind mask but smiling with your eyes and going from class to class in a traditional setting as a return to school we encourage you to you come back to school it's important to be here the association's that you make here will last a lifetime recently one of my classmates passed Jerry Foster and yesterday I was sent picture of the class of 1985 Cleveland High School at his memorial we we were there in person and in spirit to support Jerry and it's in his tragic into early and untimely passing but those are the connections that you make the association's that you make will last a lifetime and Beyond and they happened here at school in person learning for you will be so much more powerful then distance learning and you'll be able to feed off the energy of your classmates and your teacher in the classroom and you can build those learning bonds that occur in an in-person setting we strongly encourage you to be here tomorrow and be ready to go chords I was just a freshman team one freshman will come for first. Tomorrow and we're looking forward to that you'll enter in front of the administration building and we encourage you to review the process will come in your check in with your rudeness mask on backpacks supplies ready to go to your first. Class you'll proceed directly there sit in the classroom with your teacher we're going to go over some orientation things tomorrow all three freshmen to make sure you know where all your classes are will take a little walking tour with your 9th grade teacher and hopefully you'll see how beautiful the campuses from the inside instead of looking at it off of Artesia Packer Meadows and see all the hard work that our staff is done to get ready for you for those of you returning to school and and carrying on with your learning I'm reminded of something my dad taught me when I went to college now you taught it to me when I went to college was probably a little too late but I have never forgotten the lesson he said Son every morning wake up put on your hard hat pack your lunch box in your thermos and go down to the campus be there by 9 clock and work a 9 to 5 shift take an hour break for lunch but go 925 as though you have a full-time job makes student your full-time job now they obviously the the the hard hat in the lunch box in a thermos were a metaphor for treating your learning like it's work it's hard work and you're willing to put in the hard work to be the best that you can be academically I've never forgotten that and then I used it in college and it was nice because I didn't have too many late-night cramming sessions because I worked an 8-hour day on the campus everyday I have my spot in the library and if I wasn't in a class I would go straight to the library and how do you work nine-to-five didn't do a whole lot after that didn't need to on the weekends I was free to be in the world and live life and that was kind of nice and I'm appreciative to my dad for that lesson and I passed that on to you treat your learn like a 9 to 5 job you should well in this case is going to be 8:30 right so 8:30 to 4:30 but work hard everyday I think is the point of the metaphor and you'll come out this on the other end just fine and be able to go on Beyond high school and do whatever it is you want to do and whatever is the best fit for you so here we are on the campus obviously I'm in the new athletic complex but you're going to see my face tomorrow all right when you come in the gate and I'm going to be there with my mask on and maintaining a social distance and but my I'll be smiling with my eyes because I'll be so happy and joyful to see you back on the couch as we begin our return to impersonal learning process through the end of this year and Beyond so thank you for your time and listening and come back tomorrow and let's do this the right way as we done all along in our reopening since the beginning of this year in the various phases so just continue to do it the right way and this will be an unbelievable Journey that will do together subsea tomorrow mustangs go Costa
