STUDENT INFO

·      Do you like live music? Come see classical guitarist Felix Kellaway play with the MBMS Madrigal Singers and Joel Ruben on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 7 pm in the Mira Costa Theater. Tickets are $20 at the Mira Costa website (click here) or at benefit.mbrotary.org. Your donations will go to the Sandy Casey Scholarship Fund in memory of Sandy Casey.

·      Link Crew presents “Let’s Talk About It,” a student-led forum on topics here at Costa. Join us for our first discussion on How to Survive Finals this Thursday at lunch in Room 20. Ask upper classmen about study tips, time management, taking breaks, and any other finals-related questions. Everyone is welcome!

·      Please submit your Poetry Out Loud applications to Ms. Sieker in Room 44 by Thursday, Dec. 21. The contest will be held in the small theatre on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 7pm. While the judges tabulate, there will be a community open mic where any person in the audience can share a poem—we hope you can join us for this night of live poetry!

·      ‘Tis the season to be funny! Comedy Sportz is having a holiday-themed match this Friday in the small theater at 7 pm. Help Comedy Sportz. In order to get in, you can either pay $5 or bring in 3 cans of nonperishable food. All proceeds to our Adopt-A-Family!

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

·      Attention all clubs: If you have not turned in our club paperwork, it must be turned in by Friday, Dec. 8 if you want to be considered a club on campus.

·      Come to Science Olympiad TODAY at lunch in Mr. Locke’s Room 350B.

·      Mira Costa Disaster Relief Club meeting and clothes drive will be held this Thursday, Dec. 7 in Room 137 in the Math and Science Building.

·      Come to Drama Club every Wednesday (TODAY) during lunch in Room 1 for announcements and information on everything happening in the Drama/Tech Department!

SENIORS

·      Seniors: It’s time to order your caps & gowns, graduation announcements and senior rings. Jostens will be taking orders tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 7 from 7:30 am – 2 pm outside of the CCC and during Family Night in the evening from 6:30 to 8 pm in the Library. Packets and order forms are available now in the main office.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·      SENIORS: Walk-In Application Help is available in the CCC! We continue to have an open-door policy every day and are happy to answer your questions. In addition, we have designated Mondays and Wednesdays from 3 – 6pm specifically for application and essay help. We look forward to seeing you in the CCC!

·      College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors.  View all visits and sign-up to attend on NAVIANCE.

·      The CCC is hosting sessions to review A-G Requirements, the high school timeline and summer opportunities. Please visit our CCC Calendar, (MCHS WebsiteCollege Tab CCC CalendarClick on the date you’d like to attend) and sign up. Each session is limited to 25 seats, and only a limited number of sessions will be held!

·      SoCalRoc: SoCal Roc is now enrolling for the Spring 2018 semester. Classes begin January 29. The SoCalRoc Counselor is available in the CCC every Monday from 8:30 – 10:30 am. Please sign up in the CCC to meet with her or drop in for more information about SoCalRoc class offerings.
