SENIORS

·      Seniors, if you missed turning in your cap, gown and graduation announcement orders, you have three options now before the price goes up – Deadline, Dec. 18: 1) Order online at Jostens.com; 2) phone orders to 1-800-Jostens; 3) mail orders to Jostens, PO Box 1725, Camarillo, CA 93011.

STUDENT INFO

·      What are your misperceptions? Advanced Cinema students find out with their video installations in a new Mira Costa Art Gallery Show, “Behind Closed Doors, on display this week at lunch in Room 60.

·      The Costa Girls’ Water Polo team will be hosting a Jolyn Trunk Sale at the pool deck on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 11 am – 2 pm. A large variety of suits and accessories will be available to try and purchase, and all payment forms are welcome. This event is open to the public, so please invite your friends. A portion of the sales will be donated to the team. Any questions, contact Celeste Gebhardt at 310-546-4508.

·      The Mira Costa History Project is looking for someone who knows how to use Adobe In Design and would be interested in either teaching some people how to use it or joining the History Project. See Mr. Currier in Room 222 at snack or lunch if you know how to use “In Design” software.

·      Catch some basketball this week! Frosh/Soph, JV and Varsity Boys play this Friday, 12/15 in Fisher Gym! Come cheer our teams on!

·      Link Crew presents the first annual pre-finals Pajama Day! We are all stressed out about finals, so let’s come together and wear our PJs on Monday, Dec. 18 to enjoy a comfy and relaxing day. Everyone involved on Costa’s campus is invited to join in on the fun!

 

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

·      Cyber Patriot Packet Tracer and CISCO training TODAY in Room 112 from 3:30 to 5:00 pm. Let’s review the past weekend and get ready for the next rounds!

·      Whatever happened to surviving winter, or staring down the rain, or simply enjoying a weekend away from the city? We can’t promise the comforts of home, but if you want a real adventure, join Adventure Club Thursdays (TODAY) in Mr. Robertson’s Room 333.

·      Come to Support Our Students TODAY in Room 234 to help chronically ill or injured Mira Costa students.

 

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·      JUNIORS & SENIORS

Northrop Grumman is offering Costa junior and senior students an opportunity to intern with them for the spring semester! The GPA eligibility is 3.0, and the program starts the first week in February through the end of May. Students will be onsite Monday through Thursday from 12:30 – 2:30pm or 1:30 – 3:30pm daily. Before you pick up the application, be sure your schedule will allow for this commitment. Please come by the CCC to pick up an application packet this week and sign up through Naviance for the MANDATORY information session on Monday, Dec. 18 during lunch (12:10pm)

·      SENIORS

Scholarship Notebook Program The scholarship notebook is a personal profile that will be read by members of community scholarship committees. Each scholarship committee creates their own criteria for selection and carefully screens the applicants to find the appropriate candidates for their scholarships. To be eligible to participate in the program students must attend ONE of the following four information meetings held in the CCC during lunch: Tuesday, Jan. 9, Thursday, Jan. 11, Thursday, Jan. 18, and Monday, Jan. 22. Sign up on Naviance prior to the meeting.

·      College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign-up to attend on NAVIANCE.

·      The CCC is hosting sessions to review A-G Requirements, the high school timeline and summer opportunities. Each session is limited to 25 seats, and only a limited number of sessions will be held!

·      SoCalRoc: SoCal Roc is now enrolling for the Spring 2018 semester. Classes begin January 29. The SoCalRoc Counselor is available in the CCC every Monday from 8:30 – 10:30 am. Please sign up in the CCC to meet with her or drop in for more information about SoCalRoc class offerings.
