STUDENT INFO

·         All staff and students are invited to enjoy Costachella! Happening TODAY in the Mustang Mall during AM office hours, the event features two student bands picked through an audition process. The quad will be filled with music by a student DJ in a festival atmosphere! Sweets and swag will be given away, and we’ll have decorations, an art photo wall, and a chalk walk representing the clubs on campus. We hope to see you there! ALSO don’t miss your chance to post on the Costa Dream Wall. Feel free to dream big and anonymously share your hopes and dreams for our school.

·         Any current 10th or 11th grade students interested in a career in medicine are invited to apply to be a part of the district medical advisory board. High school students with questions about the positions or application process should contact Tami Simmons at [email protected] or Kristin Walz at [email protected]. ·         La Vista is holding its annual photo contest! If you are interested in photography, email your photos to [email protected] with your name, grade level, photos and photo titles by April 17.

·         Call for art! All students are invited to enter a piece into the 18th Annual All Media Art Show. Work can be in any medium including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and mixed media. See any art teacher or Mrs. Heredia in Room 62 for official entry form. Deadline to enter work is April 20. The show will be held at Resin Gallery in Hermosa Beach on April 27 from 5-7pm. 

·         2018-2019 Dance Team Auditions are right around the corner. Auditions will be April 30 – May 2 from 3:30 – 6:30 pm. Audition packets are available for pick-up in the main office.

·         NEED COMMUNITY SERVICE? Help Lunches with Love support the Union Rescue Mission by donating bagged hygiene kits. They have an unprecedented number of women, children and families. ·         Curious about how stress affects the brain? Come to the Small Theater TODAY during PM Office Hours to learn about the 17-year-old Brain and How It Is Affected by Stress by Dr. Deborah Budding and Costa’s very own Yusuf Abdul-Cader. Hope to see you there!

·         Attention Next Year’s Seniors 2018-2019! Registration begins THIS WEEK for student parking lottery for the 2018-2019 school year. Interested students should register online at the MCHS ASB Web Store. There is no cost to sign up, and you will receive a receipt for registration. Please review the Parking Permit Guidelines posted on the MCHS Website before registering.*Please note: This is a lottery for students who will be seniors ONLY. It is NOT first come/first served. If you are selected you will be notified via email and provided further instructions. Any students having difficulty registering online should contact Donna Cessor in the ASB Finance Office.

·         Attention Seniors: The CSF Life Member List has been posted on the door of room 243. If your name is not on the list and you think it should be, please see Ms. Cunningham in Room 349 as soon as possible.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·         College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign up to attend on NAVIANCE.

o  TODAY 4/11El Camino College Appointments at 9:30am – 1:00pm. Sign up for a time slot in the CCC.

·         Friday, April 13 – BCHD is offering the High School Power of Purpose Program at 12:20pm in the CCC. For students, finding purpose is important as they discover their life goals and make career choices. By participating in school-based purpose activities, students have a new understanding of what their purpose is and why it matters, while also discovering their calling for this stage in their lives in order to be better prepared for the future. ·         SoCal Roc is now enrolling for the Fall 2018 semester. Classes begin September 10. Come to the CCC to sign up and learn more about the classes and meet with the SoCal Roc Counselor.

  • Featured Summer Program: Otis College Summer of Art Program An intensive, four-week, pre-college program is for students 15 and older who wish to study at one of the top art and design colleges in the country.  Course work includes hands-on studio courses and labs in your chosen specialization.
