STUDENT INFO           

·      Attention all Freshmen: There are three officer spots on Student Government for this school year. If you are interested in running for freshman class officer, please come to an interest meeting on Thursday 8/30 at lunch in Room 41, and again on Tuesday 9/4. You must come to one meeting.

·      Attention all Students: If you are interested in being a member of Student Government during this school year, please see Mrs. Claypoole in room 40/41 to sign up for an appointment. There is one spot available!

·      For those interested in the fall play, The Laramie Project, audition packets and information are in the Drama Room 1. Packets are due Aug. 31, and after school that day there will be an information meeting, also in Room 1.

·      Attention all Mustangs and those interested in Comedy Sportz this year: The “Comedy Sportz” Improv team will be hosting a mini-match during Improv Club at lunch on Tuesday, Aug. 28. It will be held in the Drama Room 1. Laughs guaranteed!

·      Interested in playing Freshman Football? It is not too late! See Coach Currier at 2:30 pm on the west practice field any Monday – Wednesday, email him at [email protected], or talk to a team member.

·      The Freshman Football Team is looking for an enthusiastic team manager. See Coach Currier or email him at [email protected].

SENIORS

·      Attention Seniors: Buy your class shirts at the Student Store or ASB Room. Wear your class shirt this Friday, Aug. 31. Get ready to participate in class wars!

SPORTS

·      Girls’ Soccer tryouts will be TODAY through Wednesday, 8/30. Meet at the bleachers.

·      Girls’ Lacrosse tryouts will be Sept. 4 – 7, 3:00 – 4:30 pm on the West Field. No experience necessary. Bring cleats, running shoes, lacrosse stick, goggles and mouth guard. Email Amanda Cross, [email protected], with questions.

·      Boys’ Soccer tryouts will be TODAY through Thursday, 8/28 – 8/30. Meet Coach Smith on the West Field at 3:00 pm, ready to play!

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

·      CyberSecurity Club: Are you interested in computers or a possible career path in cybersecurity? Please come to the meeting at lunch this Wednesday, August 29 in Mrs. Weaver’s room 112 and learn about the Cyber Security Club. ALL returning members are encouraged to attend. ·      Democrat? Republican? There’s a lot to discuss. Come to Mr. Piper’s Room 203 on Mondays for Political Debate Club.

·      Support Our Students Club: Come to Ms. Allen’s Room 234 Thursday at lunch to make cards and care packages for students who cannot attend school due to sickness or injury. See you there!

·      Mustangs – Want to show your MCHS spirit, support La Vista and look #goodr doing it? Order your Green and Gold Goodr Sunglasses from our MBX webstore or any La Vista staff member. Shades are polarized, UV400, and $20 a pair. Stop by Room 101 if you have questions.

·      Drama Club is held every Wednesday in the Drama Room 1 at lunch. If you are interested in any aspect of Drama, make sure to stop by for information, performances, and a good time!

·      For those interested in Comedy Sportz, there will be a workshop August 29 after school at 3 pm in the Drama Room 1. It is very helpful if you plan on auditioning, and we will go over what you will do at auditions.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

o   College Personal Statement Revision- Please bring in a hard-copy of your essay if you would some feedback from one of the counselors. Typically essays are completed within 2-3 business days.

o   Walk-in Wednesdays for help with applications, essay revisions and get your questions answered! No appointment necessary. Walk- In Hours are on Wednesdays, from 3PM to 5PM.

·      JUNIORS AND SOPHOMORES - ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR THE PSAT IS NOW OPEN THROUGH Sept. 7Cost is $25                                                 

The test will begin at 7:00am on Oct. 10 at MCHS. To register online, please go the MCHS website and click on the PSAT icon. After you register online, bring your receipt to the CCC to pick up your PSAT Study Guide. In-person registration will be available September 4 – 7 in the CCC; payment by check, made out to MCHS, or cash only. Please contact the CCC with any questions – ext. 5253.
