STUDENT INFO           

·      Attention all Freshmen: There are three officer spots on Student Government for this school year. If you are interested in running for freshman class officer, please come to an interest meeting TODAY at lunch in Room 41, and again on Tuesday 9/4. You must come to one meeting.

·      Attention all Students: If you are interested in being a member of Student Government during this school year, please see Mrs. Claypoole in room 40/41 to sign up for an appointment. There is one spot available!

·      For those interested in the fall play, The Laramie Project, audition packets and information are in the Drama Room 1. Packets are due this Friday, Aug. 31, and after school that day there will be an information meeting, also in Room 1.

·      Interested in playing Freshman Football? It is not too late! See Coach Currier at 2:30 pm on the west practice field any Monday – Wednesday, email him at [email protected], or talk to a team member.

·      The Freshman Football Team is looking for an enthusiastic team manager. See Coach Currier or email him at [email protected].

SENIORS

·      Attention Seniors: Buy your class shirts at the Student Store or ASB Room. Wear your class shirt this Friday, Aug. 31. Get ready to participate in class wars!

SPORTS

·      Track Tryouts will be held Sept. 5 from 3 – 4:15 pm. Meet at the track at the Finish Line.

·      Girls’ Basketball Tryouts are being held Sept. 4 and 5 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at MBMS.

·      Any student who is interested in trying out for Boys’ Golf this year can see Coach Cox this week in Room 410 during lunch.

·      Girls’ Lacrosse tryouts will be Sept. 4 – 7, 3:00 – 4:30 pm on the West Field. No experience necessary. Bring cleats, running shoes, lacrosse stick, goggles and mouth guard. Email Amanda Cross, [email protected], with questions.

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

·      Come to the Latino Scholars Union every Tuesday at lunch in Room 73, Señora Martinez’s room. ¡Gracias! ¡Adios!

·      Get in touch with your inner Moana at the Pacific Islanders Club Wednesdays at lunch in Room 44.

·      Are you interested in a fun and interesting competition where you can learn the ins and outs of a court case? If so, join the new MCHS Mock Trial Team! Come to Mr. Zeoli’s Room 23 for audition information, and audition for the team this Friday, Aug. 31. Contact [email protected] for more information.

·      Interested in Anime and Japanese films? Come to Mr. Holland’s Room 46 on Tuesdays at lunch. We are voting on the shows/movies we are watching next Tuesday, so stop by!

·      Attention all Club Presidents! Club Renewal papers will be available to pick up Wednesday, Sept. 5 in Rooms 40 and 41.

·      Come and join robot jousting and learn about the Robotics Club TODAY at 3 pm in Room 111 (bottom floor, old social studies building).

·      Support Our Students Club: Come to Ms. Allen’s Room 234 TODAY at lunch to make cards and care packages for students who cannot attend school due to sickness or injury. See you there!

·      Mustangs – Have you bought your green and gold Goodr sunglasses from La Vista yet? If so, send us your selfies @lavistamedia on Instagram. If not, buy a pair from our MBX webstore or any La Vista staff member. Shades are polarized, UV400, and $20 a pair. Stop by Room 101 if you have questions.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·      The CCC is open Monday through Thursday (8 am to 7 pm) and Friday (8 am to 3 pm).

·      College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign-up to attend on NAVIANCE.

·      Internship Opportunity Information Session on Thursday, 9/6 at 12:20pm in the CCC – Learn more about interning for the campaign to re-elect Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi, who represents the South Bay in the California State Assembly.
This is a wonderful opportunity for students interested in politics to participate in a high-profile and targeted race. Students who complete the internship program requirements will gain valuable exposure to a career in campaigns, politics, and government.  They will also receive a letter of recommendation from Assemblymember Muratsuchi.

·      SENIORSVisit the CCC for College Application Assistance:

o   College Personal Statement Revision- Please bring in a hard-copy of your essay if you would like feedback from one of the counselors. Typically essays are completed within 2-3 business days.

o   Walk-in Wednesdays for help with applications, essay revisions and to have your questions answered! No appointment necessary. Walk-In Hours are on Wednesdays, from 3PM to 5PM.

·      JUNIORS AND SOPHOMORES - ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR THE PSAT IS NOW OPEN THROUGH Sept. 7Cost is $25

The test will begin at 7:00am on Oct. 10 at MCHS. To register online, please go the MCHS website and click on the PSAT icon. After you register online, bring your receipt to the CCC to pick up your PSAT Study Guide. In-person registration will be available September 4 – 7 in the CCC; payment by check, made out to MCHS, or cash only. Please contact the CCC with any questions – ext. 5253.

·      SoCal Roc is now enrolling for the fall 2018 semester. Classes begin Sept. 10. Come to the CCC to sign up and learn more about the classes we offer.
