STUDENT INFO           

·      Doubles Ping Pong Tournament, sign ups start Wednesday, 9/26 in ASB Room 40, $5 per team. Get your Pong on! Tournament will start the following week.

·      Hey Mustangs! Is there an adult on campus that you appreciate? Link Crew wants to recognize the amazing staff here at Mira Costa! Please use the QR codes on our posters around campus to give a shout out to any teachers, counselors, administrators or staff members who help make school great!

·      Do you enjoy art, music, dance, or have an interest in writing, producing films or taking photos? Then join us and have fun unleashing your inner artist with PTA Reflections! This year’s theme, “Heroes around Me,” calls for your own unique interpretation through the arts. Pick up submission guidelines and an entry form TODAY from the Main Office and return by Friday, Oct. 19. For inspiration, visit the Reflections virtual art gallery and learn more about prizes and scholarships at PTA.org/Reflections. Contact [email protected] for more information.

·      Art Night is back for a second year! All students are invited to sell their artwork or crafts at the 2nd annual fall Art Night. Sign up at: http://bit.ly/costaartnight. There will also be crafts for all to participate in. Art Night at Mira Costa will be held October 12, 5-7pm in the quad outside room 109. All students, faculty and staff are invited to bring friends and family for a fun evening of art!

·      MB Hometown Fair Art Exhibit Attention Costa students: Enter your artwork by the deadline, Oct. 2 for exhibition at the Hometown Fair Oct. 6 & 7. Submissions may be in 2D, 3D, photography or fiber artwork. The application can be found at this link: http://www.mbfair.org/applications/.

·      The fall California Scholarship Federation (CSF) Membership Drive continues through this Friday, Sept. 28. Membership is open to 10th, 11th and 12th grade students who are eligible, based on their excellent grades received in June. To find out if you are eligible, come to Room 243 during the membership drive at snack, lunch or PM Office Hours for more information. Sorry freshmen, you will be eligible for associate membership in February.

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

·      Come to Club Harmony at lunch on Thursday in Room 207 to learn how to promote social inclusivity!

·      Come join the Ribbons for Cancer Club every Tuesday (TODAY) at lunch in the La Vista Room 101! We work to spread cancer awareness and raise money for research.

·      The Math Club is starting up a chapter for the Mu Alpha Theta Honors Society at Mira Costa. Interested in new competitions, college scholarships, and a larger network of mathematicians? Come to Math Club on Tuesday (TODAY) in Room 131 for more information and to sign up.

·      Come to the Mira Costa End Epilepsy Club, which raises money for epileptics. (Epileptics are people who have epilepsy.) We meet on Thursday at lunch in Room 248.

·      Mira Costa Gender Sexuality Alliance meets every Thursday at lunch in Room 23. Meet a group of loving and supporting people, engage in activist work to help make campus a more accepting environment, and raise funds for various charities and organizations.

·      Want to get involved in the political environment of Costa? Come down to Young Republicans Club every Tuesday (TODAY) in Room 225 at lunch.

·      Want to play and/or listen to some turned-up tunes? Swing (pun intended) by Jazz Club in Room 4 on Wednesdays during PM Office Hours (lunchtime for normal schedule).

·      If you like science, then come check out the Science Olympiad Team! We meet every Wednesday in Mr. Locke’s Room 352 and are always looking for new members.

·      If you like tabletop, board, or video games, come to Game Club on Fridays from 3 – 5 pm! We play D & D and other tabletop RPGs. Meet us in Room 40!

·      Attention Cyber Patriot members: There is a meeting on Wednesday during lunch in Mrs. Weaver’s Room 112. There will also be an amazing training on Wednesday from 3-5 pm about creating Scripts run by BeachCoders. Don’t miss it!

·      Interested in building and competing with a solar powered boat? Come to the Solar Cup meeting in Mrs. Weaver’s Room 112 TODAY at lunch to learn more.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·      College Knowledge Night – Wednesday, September 26 at 6:15pm in the Auditorium. Meet in the Auditorium for a preview with the College and Career Counselors. You will then be directed to attend two break-out information sessions (6:30-7:20pm and 7:30-8:20pm). Break-out session topics are: Financial Aid, Community College Transfer Programs, Testing – SAT vs. ACT, Gap Year Options, NCAA, Personal Statements/College Essays. We look forward to seeing you!

·      College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign-up to attend on NAVIANCE. Please bring your school ID.

·      SENIORSVisit the CCC for College Application Assistance:

o    College Personal Statement Revision – Please bring in a hard-copy of your essay if you would like feedback from one of the counselors. Typically essays are completed within 2-3 business days.

o    Walk-in Wednesdays for help with applications, essay revisions and to have your questions answered! No appointment necessary. Walk-In Hours are on Wednesdays, from 3PM to 5PM.

·      Testing

o    Revolution Prep is offering a FREE full-length SAT and ACT practice on campus Saturday, 9/29/2018
