STUDENT INFO           

·      Attention Juniors and Seniors: Would you like to earn easy community service credit while actually providing a valuable service? The After-School Student-to-Student Tutoring program is looking for tutors to work here on campus after school, with shifts available Monday through Thursday between the hours of 3 and 5. If you excel in certain subjects and would like to have some valuable community service credits for your college applications and scholarship notebooks, come to a meeting this Friday at lunch in Mr. Zeoli’s Room 23.

·      Hello Mustangs! Spirit Days for this week are: Millionaire Monday (TODAY); Tropical Tuesday (10/9); Wild West Wednesday (10/10), Tailgate Thursday (10/11) and Class Wars Friday (TODAY) and Homecoming. Prizes will go to homerooms that have more than 50% participation each day!

·      Attention! Last chance to sign up for the sure-to-be-amazing 2019 Ski Week service trip to Peru with Mrs. Martinez-Sellan. Please come to Room 73 if you are interested.

·      Attention Mustangs! The MCHS Homecoming Dance “Dreamland” is TOMORROW, Oct. 13! The evening includes dancing, games and snacks. Buy tickets TODAY in the Student Store at lunch and nutrition. Cash only - $20. Mira Costa students only. Make sure to attend the last dance in the Gym!

·      Last Chance! Come to the Gallery Room 60 TODAY to see a new Art Show from Art 2/3. The show, Heroes, is a collection of portraits, and ends today.

·      Art Night is back for a second year TONIGHT! All students are invited to sell their artwork or crafts at the 2nd annual fall Art Night. Sign up at: http://bit.ly/costaartnight. There will also be crafts for all to participate in. Art Night at Mira Costa will be TONIGHT from 5-7pm in the quad by Room 109. All students, faculty and staff are invited to bring friends and family for a fun evening of art!

SPORTS

·      Wanna prepare for ASB’s doubles ping-pong tournament? Come to the Gym on Fridays (TODAY) at lunch for Ping Pong Club!

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

·      Children of War Foundation: Come on down to Mr. Wheeler’s Room 21 TODAY. We hope to see you soon! For more info for this club, and if interested, please come!

·      Math Club meetings are held every Tuesday at lunch. Come to Room 131 if you want to improve your skills, learn new concepts, and compete against other mathletes. All levels of math are welcome!

·      Do you want to become a published writer, poet, photographer, artist, etc.? All you have to do is submit your art to [email protected] to be in the Literary Magazine, PaperCut!

·      NHS Members: Prospective leaders will be giving their candidate speeches in Room 45 at lunch Wednesday. Voting will take place online on Thursday. Check your mbusdapps emails for more info.

·      SENIORSVisit the CCC for College Application Assistance:

o  College Personal Statement Revision – Please bring in a hard-copy of your essay if you would like feedback from one of the counselors. Typically essays are completed within 2-3 business days.

o  Walk-in Wednesdays for help with applications, essay revisions and to have your questions answered! No appointment necessary. Walk-In Hours are on Wednesdays, from 3PM to 5PM.

o  Application Workshops in the CCC  Please sign up for the presentations on Naviance (under “College Visits” tab)

·      STEM Opportunity for Junior Girls

The STEM Goes Red program for the 2018-2019 school year will be selecting 80 female high school juniors and invites you to apply to be part of this free enrichment program. STEM Goes Red participants will have the opportunity to attend a speed-networking session with female leaders in LA, a storytellers’ workshop with media and entertainment executives in February, a job shadow day with a mentor in research and in a hospital setting, and a Go Red For Women signature event in the spring. Through this program, we will support participants throughout the year, provide experiences and resources that you can include on your college applications and resumes. We will also have optional ways for you to engage over the summer and/or over your senior year. ·      SoCal Roc is now enrolling for its 9-week courses: Adobe Suite (After Effects, Animate, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Business Entrepreneur, and ITCC-Welding. Classes begin Nov. 13. Sign up in the CCC & speak with a SCROC counselor.
