STUDENT INFO           

·      Attention Students and Staff: Come try out student-created games in the Computer Science Rooms (111, 112 and 116) during AM and PM Office Hours TODAY!

·      Do you enjoy art, music, dance, or have an interest in writing, producing films or taking photos? Then join us and have fun unleashing your inner artist with PTSA’s Reflections! This year’s theme, “Heroes Around Me,” calls for your own unique interpretation through the arts. Pick up submission guidelines and an entry form today from the Main Office and return by Friday, Oct. 19. ·      JAPAN Spring Break 2020. Information meeting on Friday, Oct. 19 in Room 72 at lunch. Domo arigato!

·      All students who are interested in playing Ice Hockey in the upcoming season (including returning players) should please stay tuned for an all-interest meeting with Coach Barry Dreger later this month, and the pre-skate or try-outs in mid-November. Please watch out for date and time of the all-interest meeting later in October.

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

·      Are you interested in medicine or community service? Come to the Medical Society Club on Thursday in Room 19 at lunch to learn more.

·      Need community service hours? Come to the Fluffy Friends Club in Room 230 during lunch on Fridays where you can register to work in animal shelters.

·      The Astronomy and Space Club meets at lunch on Thursday! It has been moved from Wednesday to Thursday. Come to Room 248 to learn about the wonders of our universe!

·      Mira Costa Gender Sexuality Alliance meets every Thursday at lunch in Room 23, Mr. Zeoli’s room. Meet a group of loving and supportive people, engage in activist work to help make campus a more accepting environment, and raise funds for various charities and organizations.

·      Come to Room 205 every Wednesday (TODAY) at lunch for I CARE Club! We fundraise to send letters and boxes of supplies to children/teens in refugee camps, with the goal of spreading awareness and giving support.

·      Come to Drama Club! Every Wednesday (TODAY) at lunch in the Drama Room 1. Make sure to be there for all drama announcements and fun activities.

·      Come to P.A.W.S. Club in Room 72 at lunch TODAY if you are looking for service opportunities and love animals!

·      Do you want your opinions to be heard? Do you love trying new things? Well, get your voice out there by coming to the Critics Club every Wednesday (TODAY) during lunch in Room 131. Food will be provided.

·      Math Club meetings are held every Tuesday at lunch. Come to Room 131 if you want to improve your skills, learn new concepts, and compete against other mathletes. All levels of math are welcome!

·      College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign-up to attend on NAVIANCE. Please bring your school ID.

The Future Is Now:  Social, Digital, and New Media MarketingWednesday, October 17 at 5:30pm in the CCC. This session will teach students the enormous impact of social media across many industries and the skills required to work in this field. Parents are welcome. Please sign-up on Naviance or in the CCC.

·      SENIORSVisit the CCC for College Application Assistance:

o  College Personal Statement Revision – Please bring in a hard-copy of your essay if you would like feedback from one of the counselors. Typically essays are completed within 2-3 business days.

o  Walk-in Wednesdays for help with applications, essay revisions and to have your questions answered! No appointment necessary. Walk-In Hours are on Wednesdays, from 3PM to 5PM.

·      STEM Opportunity for Junior Girls

The STEM Goes Red program for the 2018-2019 school year will be selecting 80 female high school juniors and invites you to apply to be part of this free enrichment program. STEM Goes Red participants will have the opportunity to attend a speed-networking session with female leaders in LA, a storytellers’ workshop with media and entertainment executives in February, a job shadow day with a mentor in research and in a hospital setting, and a Go Red For Women signature event in the spring. Through this program, we will support participants throughout the year, provide experiences and resources that you can include on your college applications and resumes. We will also have optional ways for you to engage over the summer and/or over your senior year. ·      SoCal Roc is now enrolling for its 9-week courses: Adobe Suite (After Effects, Animate, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Business Entrepreneur, and ITCC-Welding. Classes begin Nov. 13. Sign up in the CCC & speak with a SCROC counselor.
