STUDENT INFO           

·      The ASB Finance Office and Student Store will be closed Wednesday, Oct. 31. If you have urgent needs, please make sure to visit the Finance Office TODAY, Oct. 30. We will reopen on Thursday, Nov. 1.

·      The MCHS Drama/Tech Department presents our fall play, The Laramie Project. Opening night is Friday, November 2 in the small theater at 7:30 pm.

·      JAPAN Spring Break 2020 – Parent Meeting TODAY, Tuesday 10/30 at 6:30 pm in Room 72. Domo arigato!

·      Attention Students: Would you like to get free help from highly qualified tutors? Would you just like a place on campus where you can work and study after school? The Student-to-Student Tutoring Program that usually runs in the library will still be taking place while we wait for the library to re-open. It will be in Room 23 on Mondays and Wednesdays and in Room 18 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These rooms will be open for studying and tutoring until 5 pm on those days.

·      Hello Mustangs! Make sure you’re getting your costumes ready for the annual Halloween Costume Contest! It will be tomorrow at nutrition. Prizes will be awarded at lunch.

·      It’s that time of year! The 2018 Lip Sync Contest is here! Calling all clubs, sports teams, groups and individuals: Show us your Lip Sync skills and win a chance at PRIZE MONEY. Sign-ups continue TODAY, Oct. 30 and Nov. 1.  Look for the Dance Team table near the Mustang Mall. Show is Thursday, Nov. 15!

SENIORS

·      ATTENTION SENIORS: This year Hoofprints has decided to make our senior superlative votes DIGITAL. Please check the email you have listed with Mira Costa High School to access the survey. All surveys will be tallied by November 9, so make sure your vote counts! We appreciate your participation class of 2019!

SPORTS

·      The final Basketball Tryout for all levels will be held this Thursday, Nov. 1 from 5 to 7 pm in the Mira Costa Basketball Gym. This tryout is only for athletes who competed in fall sports or did not previously try out.

·      If you are interested in trying out for the Girls’ Beach Volleyball Team, please visit our NEW website at https://miracostabeachvolleyball.com and register now, so that we can include you on our email distribution for additional information. Try-outs will be Monday and Wednesday, Jan. 14 & 16 from 2:30-4:30 at 2nd Street in Manhattan Beach. If you would like to meet our new head coach, Nancy Mason, and ask questions about the upcoming season, please join us for an informal meet & greet on Friday, Nov. 9 from 3:30 until dark. We will meet at the beach just north of Longfellow in Hermosa. Look for the Mira Costa pop-up tent. Parents welcome!

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

·      Mira Costa Gender Sexuality Alliance meets every Thursday at lunch in Room 23, Mr. Zeoli’s room. Meet a group of loving and supportive people, engage in activist work to help make campus a more accepting environment, and raise funds for various charities and organizations.

·      Go to Improv Club. I dare you. Tuesdays. Drama Room 1. Lunch. Be there. TODAY.

·      Come to Drama Club every Wednesday in Room 1 at lunch to learn all about upcoming events in the Drama/Tech Department.

·      Shalom! Come to the Jewish Cultural Club in Mr. Fauver’s Room 200 at lunch TODAY. Learn about Judaism whilst enjoying complimentary kosher pizza.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·      College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign-up to attend on NAVIANCE. Please bring your school ID.

·      SENIORS Visit the CCC for College Application Assistance:

o  College Personal Statement Revision*Note: For November 1st deadlines, drop off by TODAY, Tuesday, October 30 at 3:00pm. Please bring in a hard-copy of your essay if you would like feedback from one of the counselors. Typically essays are completed within 2-3 business days.

o  Walk-in Wednesdays for help with applications, essay revisions and to have your questions answered! No appointment necessary. Walk-In Hours are on Wednesdays, from 3PM to 5PM.

·      SoCal Roc is now enrolling for its 9-week courses: Adobe Suite (After Effects, Animate, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Business Entrepreneur, and ITCC-Welding. Classes begin Nov. 13. Sign up in the CCC & speak with a SCROC counselor.
