·      JAPAN SPRING BREAK 2020! The $200 discount ends this Friday, 11/30. See Mrs. Geczi in Room 72 for details.

·      New in the Art Gallery: Come be surrounded by art in an installation show presented by Art 2. Open TODAY, 11/28 through Dec. 7 in Room 60.

·      Boys’ Tennis Tryouts for all new players will be held Monday, Dec. 3; Tuesday, Dec. 4; and Thursday, Dec. 6 from 3 to 5 pm at the Mira Costa tennis courts. Players must attend all three days. Attendance on Friday, Dec. 7 may also be required. If you have a conflict, please contact Coach Ciasulli directly at [email protected].

·      Boys’ Tennis Tryouts for all returning players will be held Tuesday, Dec. 4 and Thursday, Dec. 6 from 3 to 5 pm at the Mira Costa tennis courts. ·      Costa’s first-ever Spikeball Tournament is here! Sign up in the ASB Room during Nutrition and lunch starting 11/20 through 12/6, $5 per team.

·      Techies! Join us for the 2018 Local Hack Day! This free mini-hackathon runs from 9 am to 9 pm on Saturday, Dec. 1 and allows you to bring an idea to life over 12 hours with a team. All are welcome; no experience necessary. Visit tinyurl.com/MCHSHack for more info.

SPORTS

·      Ice Hockey pre-season activities are beginning with a coach meeting for interested students followed by pre-skate tryouts for the team. All-interest student meeting Friday, 11/30 at lunch in the Guidance Office Conference Room. Pre-skate tryouts Friday, 12/7 from 5 to 6 pm at Toyota Sports Center. Questions? Email [email protected].

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

·      Come to the Support Our Students Club Thursday at lunch in Room 234 to make cards/care packages for sick and injured Costa students!

·      Mira Costa Gender Sexuality Alliance meets every Thursday at lunch in Room 23, Mr. Zeoli’s room. Meet a group of loving and supportive people, engage in activist work to help make campus a more accepting environment, and raise funds for various charities and organizations.

·      Want to get in that frosty festive feeling fast? Come to Jazz Club in the Band Room 4 on Wednesdays (TODAY) during PM Office Hours for some toasty holiday tunes!

·      Are you interested in pursuing a career in medicine or community service hours? Come to the Medical Society Club on Thursdays in Room 19.

·      The second math competition of the year is coming up soon on December 5! Come to Math Club in Room 131 on Tuesdays at lunch for more information and to sign up. All levels of mathletes are welcome.

·      SENIORS Visit the CCC for College Application Assistance:

o  College Personal Statement Revision – Please bring in a hard-copy of your essay if you would like feedback from one of the counselors. Typically essays are completed within 2-3 business days. *Important* If you would like your UC Essays revised, your essays must be dropped off in the CCC by 3pm TODAY, November 28.

o  Walk-in Wednesdays for help with applications, essay revisions and to have your questions answered! No appointment necessary. Walk-In Hours are on Wednesdays, from 3 to 5 pm.

·         Volunteer Opportunity – AdventurePlex Holiday Camps

Make a difference during your holiday break by helping kids play their way to good health! Volunteers will assist with fun activities such as arts & crafts, rock climbing, ropes course, puppet show, and story time. Holiday Camps:  December 24 – January 4 (No camp December 25 or January 1). Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older & commit to 2 shifts per week, Monday – Friday:  10am – 1pm; 1-4pm. Apply online by December 7 at:  www.adventureplex.org/volunteeropportunities
