WED 1/9 Office Hours Schedule; Community Coffee with the Principal at 7:30 am in the Admin Building; PTSA Exec. Board Meeting at 6 pm and PTSA General Meeting at 7 pm in the Small Theater (Note date change of meetings from 1/8)

THU 1/10 MBEF College Speaker Evening with Adam Ingersoll at 7 pm in the Auditorium

WED 1/16 Office Hours Schedule; Club Day at lunch in the Mustang Mall

THU 1/17 Principal’s Tour at 9 am in the Admin Office; 11th Grade Vision & Hearing Screening

MON 1/21MLK Day, No School

TUE 1/22 Late Start Schedule; Faculty Meeting at 8 am in the Small Theater

 


STUDENT INFO

·      Please return your textbooks if you are in a single semester class. The library is currently in Room 18 (between Chen and Houterman). Students will not be allowed to check out books for next semester until first semester books are returned. If you still need any textbooks, please see Mrs. Sullivan in Room 18.

·      Tryouts for the Mira Costa Badminton Team will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 8 and Wednesday, Jan. 9 from 5 pm to 6:30 pm at 516 18th Street in Manhattan Beach.

 

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

·      None.

 

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·      Schedule a one-on-one appointment with one of our credentialed college counselors. Call 310-318-7337 ext. 5253 or email [email protected].

·      College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission    to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign-up to attend on NAVIANCE. Please bring your school ID.

o  Tuesday, 1/8California Aeronautical University Table at 12:20pm (outside CCC).

o  Wednesday, 1/9El Camino College – Appointments available starting at 9:27am – please sign up in the CCC.

o  Thursday, 1/10U.S. Army Table at 12:20pm (outside CCC).

o  Friday, 1/11Santa Monica College at 12:20pm in the CCC – Application assistance and any questions will be covered.

·      Sophomores and Juniors – If you took the PSAT in October, your printed score reports are now available for pick-up in the CCC.

·      SENIORS Visit the CCC for College Application Assistance.

Scholarships

Scholarship Notebook Program:

The scholarship notebook is a personal profile that will be read by members of community scholarship committees. Each scholarship committee creates their own criteria for selection and carefully screens the applicants to find the appropriate candidates for their scholarships. The scholarship donors are looking for students who may meet any of the following criteria:

•Have financial need

•Plan to attend a two- or four-year school or trade school

•Have completed numerous volunteer hours

•Plan to study a particular major (i.e. Art, Dance, Business, English)

•Deserve a merit award for excellent grades

•Have a talent that the committee wishes to honor

•Meet any number of additional criteria!

For students to be eligible to apply, they must attend ONE of the following five information  meetings in the CCC during lunch on January 8, 10, 14, 17 or during PM Office Hours on Wednesday, January 9.  Students must sign-up on Naviance prior to the meeting to attend. Please bring $5 to purchase the notebooks.
