·         Hey Teachers! Mira Costa’s Got Talent is back, and we would love for you to come! The show is Thursday, 1/31! You can buy tickets from Mrs. Claypoole or any of the senior class officers (Liam Barberi, JoJo Hoffman, Ava Van’t Hof).

STUDENT INFO

·         Last year’s Talent Show winners in the teacher’s division are back again this year with a brand new act!! The dynamic duo of Debevec and Kurz will amaze you with their latest creation, the “Dueling Magicians’ Standoff.” Come watch Mr. Debevec and Mr. Kurz battle it out Thursday night at the talent show, 7:00 pm start time. You are sure to be unimpressed with their dazzling display of magical ineptitude.

·         Best Donuts owners Henry and Kim are retiring after 30 years of serving our community. Go buy your last “Best Donut” and give them a shout out.

·         Wear your green and gold and come on out Thursday, 1/31 to cheer on Costa Boys’ Basketball vs. Redondo. Tip-off is at 7:30 pm at Redondo Union High School!

·         Attention Freshmen: Link Crew invites YOU to Donut Day to celebrate your first semester of high school being complete! TODAY during PM Office Hours, please head to the cafeteria/senior quad and find your Link Crew group number. There, hand your ticket to your Link Leader and receive a Krispy Kreme donut! Tickets and group numbers will be delivered to your homeroom period; check your Link Crew group messages and mubsdapps.org emails for information as well. Looking forward to seeing you!

·         Scholar Quiz Registration opens Feb. 6 at 6:00 am. Registration is On-Line at https://www.miracostahigh.org/apps/form/form.MIRCOSHS.qHectyo.hA. This link can be found under the Latest News section of the MCHS website. Selections will be made on a first-come, first-served basis, regardless of grade, and will be time stamped upon on-line registration. The Scholar Quiz dates are March 12, 13, 14, 15, 18, 20. Only 64 teams will be guaranteed entry. All others will be placed on a list of alternates. Questions? Contact Laurie Baker at [email protected].

·         Registration for AP Examinations is available online NOW through Feb. 8. Late Registration online will begin Friday, Feb. 1 at 3:00 pm. Walk-in registration will be available at the Student Store during LUNCH ONLY starting this week.  On-time registration: Jan. 28 – Feb. 1. Late registration: Feb. 4 – Feb. 8.

·         The California Scholarship Federation spring membership drive has been extended through TODAY. Pick up applications in Room 243 during this time. Associate Membership will be open to freshmen during this drive. Remember Seniors, you need one semester of senior grades!

SENIORS

·      Senior CSF Members: Remember, you need one semester of senior grades to be a life member. Turn in your application by TODAY. If you are not eligible this semester, you may apply in May using your 2nd semester grades. But don’t wait if you are eligible now! CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

·      Come to the Support Our Students Club Thursday at lunch in Room 234 to make cards/care packages for sick/injured Costa students!

·      Come to Drama Club in Room 1 for information on Senior Scenes, Fullerton, and the musical. Every Wednesday (TODAY) at lunch!

·      Come to Improv Club! Tuesdays at lunch in the Drama Room 1!

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·      Schedule a one-on-one appointment with one of our credentialed college counselors. Call 310-318-7337 ext. 5253 or email [email protected].

·         College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign up to attend on NAVIANCE. Please bring your school ID.

o  TODAY, 1/30**UPDATE**Marymount California University at 12:40pm (PM Office Hours); El Camino College appointments - Make sure you are completing the tasks that are needed to qualify for Priority Registration. Come to the CCC to make an appointment to develop an Educational Plan or answer any questions you may have.  Appointments begin at 9:51am – 1:10pm, sign up in the CCC. **UPDATE** Appointments will begin when the morning drill has ended and are available until 1:10pm, sign up in the CCC

·      Sophomores and Juniors

o  If you took the PSAT in October your printed score reports are now available for pick-up in the CCC.
