STUDENT INFO

·         All students who have ever taken an Engineering course with Mrs. Weaver are now eligible to receive FREE credits from El Camino. Please see Mrs. Weaver in Room 112 to receive information on how to receive the credits.

·         Come to the Gallery in Room 60 to check out artwork by AP Studio Art student Amanda Murch from TODAY through Wednesday, April 24.

·         THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, Mira Costa Drama/Tech’s Spring Musical, opens 4/26 at 7:30 pm in the Auditorium! Pre-sale tickets are on sale now – students/seniors $10 and adults $15! Available at the Student Store, Tiffany Cleaners, Patterson Cleaners, and Dietz Brothers. Show Dates: 4/26 at 7:30 pm; 4/27 at 7:30 pm; 5/2 at 6:30 pm; 5/3 at 7:30 pm; 5/4 at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm. ·         Attention Next Year’s Seniors 2019-2020! Registration has begun for student parking lottery for the 2019-2020 school year. Interested students should register online at the MCHS ASB Web Store. There is no cost to sign up, and you will receive a receipt for registration. Please review the Parking Permit Guidelines posted on the MCHS Website before registering. *Please note: This is a lottery for students who will be seniors ONLY. It is NOT first come/first served. If you are selected, you will be notified via email and provided further instructions. Any students having difficulty registering online should contact Donna Cessor in the ASB Finance Office.

·         Independent Study Athletics (ISA) applications for the 2019-2020 school year are now on the school’s website under ATHLETICS. All applications are due on or before May 15, 2019.

·         The Neptunian Woman’s Club is sponsoring its 40th Student Art and Photography Contest for grades K-5 (art) and 6-12 (art and photography). Deadline for submission to the school office is Friday, May 10, 2019 before 3:00 pm. An awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 19 at 1:00 pm in the Neptunian clubhouse, Manhattan Beach. ·         Japan Spring Break 2020 meeting at lunch TODAY in Room 72. Domo arigato!

SENIORS

·         Buy your Senior Grad Nite Ticket TODAY! Tickets increase by $20 on May 1 (in 2 weeks). Mira Costa’s G.R.A.D. Nite is an all-night party of thoroughly extravagant proportions thrown each June exclusively for the graduating class. The party is substance-free and provides a safe environment for the current graduating class to celebrate together one last time. Attendees are bused to a secret, private venue, where they may participate in games, music, dancing, and many other surprise activities. Visit the school website for tickets and more info.

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

·         Come to American Sign Language (ASL) Club this Friday in Room 74 to learn new signs and make new friends. Can’t wait to see you there!

·         Math Club: The last math competition of the year is coming up on May 1! Contact [email protected] for more information and to sign up. All levels of mathletes are welcome.

·         Every month, the South Bay Food Initiative offers a chance to help in the fight against hunger. This month, on Saturday, April 20 from 9 am to Noon, we will be going to the Los Angeles regional Food Bank to sort food. If you are interested in making a difference and getting community service hours please go to www.southbayfoodinitiative.com to sign up.

·         Are you interested in our Criminal Justice System? Do you want to become a lawyer or build strong presentation and public speaking skills to show to colleges? Then the Mock Trial Club is right for you! Come to Mr. Zeoli’s Room 23 during AM Office Hours TODAY for more information.

·      College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign-up to attend on NAVIANCE. Please bring your school ID.
