STUDENT INFO

·         Prom 2019 California Dreamin’will be held June 1, 2019 at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. Purchase your tickets now at the Student Store or purchase a ticket voucher at the ASB Web Store, https://mchswebstore.myschoolcentral.com. For details and pricing see the Prom Forms which must be completed for purchase:

·         The Final Date to pre-order a yearbook will be Thursday, May 16. After May 16, yearbooks (if available) will be sold for $125 cash after the distribution period has begun.

·         The Mira Costa Surf Team is having an open tryout for all current Costa boys and girls – Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors. The tryout will be Thursday, May 17 starting at 6:30 am at the 26th Street Lifeguard Tower in MB. You will be able to make it to your 1st period, and we could even start as early as 6:15 am if you have an AP final that morning. Tryouts will consist of competitive heats. No foam boards allowed. Hope to see you there.

·         Independent Study Athletics (ISA) applications for the 2019-20 school year are on the Costa website under ATHLETICS. All applications are DUE on or before May 15, 2019. Late applications will not be accepted!

 

SENIORS

·         Attention Graduation and Senior Recognition Night performers: Please come to Room 44 during PM Office Hours this Wednesday, May 15, for a mandatory performance rehearsal!

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

·         Very important Drama Club Meeting Wednesday at lunch in the Drama Room 1. All thespians make sure to be there to vote for next year’s drama student board. Come for this and information on upcoming dates. THESPIANS ONLY MEETING!

·         Improv Club is back again! Tuesdays at lunch in the Drama Room 1. Come if you breathe air!

·         Come to the Young Survival Coalition Club in Room 73 every other Monday to help spread awareness about breast cancer!

·         Are you interested in our criminal justice system? Do you want to become a lawyer or build strong presentation and public speaking skills to show to colleges? Then the Mock Trial Club is right for you! Come to Room 23 during AM Office Hours for more information.

 

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·      Schedule a one-on-one appointment with one of our credentialed college counselors. Call 310-318-7337 ext. 5253 or email [email protected]. *Juniors – the Spring Semester is an ideal time to meet with a CCC Counselor.

·      College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign up to attend on NAVIANCE. Please bring your school ID.

o   Wednesday, 5/15 – El Camino College Appointments from 9:30am – 1:30pm. Make sure you are completing the tasks that are needed to qualify for Priority Registration and the Honors Program. Come to the CCC to make an appointment to develop an Educational Plan or answer any questions you may have. 

·      Attention Seniors – UPDATED CLEARANCE INSTRUCTIONS

      If you have not done so already, please complete the following steps immediately:

      If you are planning to attend a 2-year or 4-year college –

1.      Bring a copy of your acceptance letter to the CCC. 

2.      Update your college admissions results page (Go to the “College Tab” – For colleges that you did NOT end up applying to, mark as “withdrawn.”  For colleges that you applied to and did not get into, mark “denied.” For colleges you applied to and got into, mark “accepted.” Finally, indicate which school you are going to ATTEND at the bottom of the page and click on the UPDATE button.

3.      Complete the senior survey on Naviance (under the “About Me” tab). 

      Please note: you ONLY need to bring in a copy of your acceptance letter

      If you are planning to work, enter the military, take a gap year or travel, please stop in the CCC             to let us know your plans.

·      SoCal Roc is now enrolling for the Fall 2019 semester. Classes begin Monday, September 9. Come to the CCC to sign up and learn more about the classes we offer.
