STUDENT INFO

·         Art Night is back for a third year! All students are invited to sell their artwork and crafts at the 3rd Annual Art Night. Sign up at CostaArtNight.weebly.com. There will also be food, music and arts and crafts for all to participate in. Art Night is on Friday, Oct. 25 from 5 to 7 pm in the quad outside Room 109. All students, faculty and staff are invited to bring friends and family for a fun evening of art!

·         Attention Students! The first Club Day will be held Wednesday, Oct. 2 in the Mustang Mall. Bring money!

·         Meadows Elementary School is looking for volunteers to help paint templates on our lower playground blacktop this Sunday between 10 and 2 pm. This will include hopscotch, painting dots, redoing lines and more. If you are interested in giving us a couple hours of your time, we’d appreciate it! ·         If you are interested in going to Italy with Mr. Piorek in February 2020 but have not yet signed up, come to Room 25 at lunch TODAY, as our first sign-up deadline is approaching.

·         Greece/Italy Trip: If you are interested in this amazing trip, there is an informational parent meeting TONIGHT at 6 pm in Mrs. Martinez-Sellan’s Room 73.

·         California Scholarship Federation Fall Membership Drive ends tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 27. Come by Room 243 during the membership drive to get more information and pick up an application. You can also check the Costa website for more information. Keep up the good work, Costa!

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

·         Looking for a club to join but can’t quite find where you belong? Well, A.S.H. Club (Acceptance Starts Here) is here for YOU! Come to learn about respect for yourself and your peers in a safe and welcoming environment!

·         Join the Corals for Change Club at lunch in Room 339 if you are interested in raising awareness and funding for coral reef bleaching!

·         Come to Chemistry Club on Friday 9/27 in Room 342 to hear more about exciting field trips to USC & UCLA and other upcoming volunteer events, experiments, and movies! We will have candy!

·         Youth Activism Club is meeting in Room 20 on Mondays at lunch.

·         If you are interested in volunteering at children’s hospitals to decorate during the holidays, come to the Prescription for Happiness meetings on Thursdays (TODAY) in Room 137.

·         Come to Medical Society Club in Room 331 on Thursdays (TODAY) at lunch if you are interested in pursuing a career in medicine and volunteering at local hospitals.

·         Are you worried about the future of our planet? You should be. Come to Climate Change Club at lunch TODAY in Room 350 to see how you can help. There will be free donuts, as well!

·         Filipino Club: Interested in learning about Filipino culture and helping the Filipino kids in need? Come to Mr. Nodado’s Room 342 TODAY at lunch. There will be food and desserts provided.

·         If you are interested in making art around campus or want to meet fellow artists, then come join the Mira Costa Artist Society. Come to Room 109 at lunch on Thursdays (TODAY). All levels of artistic experience are welcome!

·         Mira Costa Gender Sexuality Alliance meets every Thursday (TODAY) at lunch in room 23, Mr. Zeoli’s room. Meet a group of loving and supportive people, engage in activist work to help make campus a more accepting environment, and raise funds for various charities and organizations.

·         Come to the Support Our Students Club TODAY at lunch in Room 234 to make cards/care packages for sick/injured Costa students!

·         Any students interested in a stand-up comedy performance and joke writing club, please stop by Room 76 and see Mr. Hands. Thanks, I’ll be here all week…

·         Chess Club is taking place on Thursdays (TODAY) at lunch in Room 14. If you are interested in playing chess, learning chess, or improving your skills, this is the club for you! All levels are welcome!

·         College Essays – If you’d like a CCC counselor to revise your personal statement or personal insight questions, bring by a double-spaced copy to the CCC. Be sure to include your name, email, and the prompt to which you are responding.

·         Personal Insight Question Workshop – Wednesday, October 2 at 5:30pm in the CCC

Come to a workshop led by a UCLA Bruin Ambassador about the Personal Insight Questions. Our presenter will be sharing tips about making the most of 350 words! 

·         College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign up to attend on NAVIANCE. Please bring your school ID.

·         Revolution Prep is offering FREE practice SAT and ACT exams at Mira Costa High School
All exams are held at Mira Costa High School on Saturdays from 9am to 12:30pm. Rooms TBD. Choose SAT OR ACT. Both are offered on each date. Dates: Saturday – 9/28, 11/16, 3/7/2020, 5/2/2020. Price: FREE!

Earn high school elective credits while gaining valuable hands-on experience in a variety of careers. Choose from classes related to Art & Design, Engineering & Design, Finance & Business, Health Sciences and Public & Consumer Services. Classes are free and transportation is provided for our 12:45pm and 3:45pm classes. Your SoCal ROC career guidance specialist will be on campus in the CCC Wednesdays during AM office hours to answer your questions.
