STUDENT INFO

·         DISTRICT OFFICE PARKING SPOTS: Students, please be forewarned that the MBPD will begin issuing parking citations to all cars not displaying MBUSD employee parking placards in the District Office lot. This excludes the east section adjacent to Peck Avenue, where student overflow parking is allowed.

·         MCHS Bands Golf Scramble – This event, originally scheduled for Sunday, 10/13, has been cancelled.

·         The very first Comedy Sportz Match of the year is this Friday at 7 pm in the Small Theater - $5 for a night of laughs!

·         Art Night is back for a third year! All students are invited to sell their artwork and crafts at the 3rd Annual Art Night. Sign up at CostaArtNight.weebly.com. There will also be food, music and arts and crafts for all to participate in. Art Night is on Friday, Oct. 25 from 5 to 7 pm in the quad outside Room 109. All students, faculty and staff are invited to bring friends and family for a fun evening of art!

·         New Date! Thailand 2020 Parent Meeting Part I will be held Oct. 17 at 6:00 pm in Room 234.

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

·         Looking for a club to spice up your resumé? Want to meet new people and find out where you belong? Come to A.S.H. Club every Thursday (TODAY) in Room 102 at lunch! We are here for you!

·         We commonly use medicine like Advil or Tylenol when we don’t feel well, but have you ever tried using herbs to treat an illness? Come to Eastern Medicine Club in Room 352B on Mondays during lunch to explore topics ranging from acupuncture to medicinal herbs and volunteer at eastern medical clinics.

·         If you are interested in volunteering at children’s hospitals to decorate during the holidays, come to the Prescription for Happiness meetings on Thursdays (TODAY) in room 137.

·         Join the Corals for Change Club at lunch in Room 339 if you are interested in raising awareness and funding for coral reef bleaching.

·         Help the homeless. Clean out your closets and bring clothes to Ms. Vaughan’s Room 207. Thank you.

·         Mira Costa Gender Sexuality Alliance meets every Thursday (TODAY) at lunch in Room 23, Mr. Zeoli’s room. Meet a group of loving and supportive people, engage in activist work to help make campus a more accepting environment, and raise funds for various charities and organizations.

·         Chess Club takes place on Thursdays (TODAY) at lunch in Room 14. If you are interested in playing chess, learning chess, or improving your skills, this is the club for you! All levels are welcome!

·         Are you interested in computer programming or want a new extracurricular where you can learn and develop a very popular skill? Then the Competitive Coding Club is for you! All levels are welcome. Meetings are every Thursday (TODAY) during lunch in Room 116, Mr. Braskin’s room. Personal computers are recommended but not required.

·         Please join the South Bay Food Initiative at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank on Saturday, Oct. 12 to sort food from 9 am to 12 pm. No experience is necessary, and you can earn 3 hours of community service. For more information or to sign up, please visit www.southbayfoodinitiative.com.

·         H.E.A.R.T. Club meets every Friday in Room 56. Come join our Skechers Team/Pier to Pier Walk.

·         College Essays – If you’d like a CCC counselor to revise your personal statement or personal insight questions, bring by a double-spaced copy to the CCC. Be sure to include your name, email, and the prompt to which you are responding.

·         College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign up to attend on NAVIANCE. Please bring your school ID.

·         The Princeton Review is offering a FREE practice SAT or ACT Test at Mira Costa High on Oct. 19 at 9:00am – 12:45pm.  You’ll get a detailed score report that analyzes your strengths and weaknesses and gives you an action plan for improvement. ·         SoCal ROC

Earn high school elective credits while gaining valuable hands-on experience in a variety of careers. Choose from classes related to Art & Design, Engineering & Design, Finance & Business, Health Sciences and Public & Consumer Services. Classes are free and transportation is provided for our 12:45pm and 3:45pm classes. Your SoCal ROC career guidance specialist will be on campus in the CCC Wednesdays during AM office hours to answer your questions.
