STUDENT INFORMATION

• Reminder: Mira Costa High School and Admin. Office will be closed April 2nd thru April 6th for Spring Break. School will resume on Monday, April 9th.

• Tryouts for the 2012-2013 Season are just around the corner. Be sure to pick up your Tryout Packet in the Main Office or download online at www.mchspepsquad.com. Tryouts begin Monday, April 16th. If you've got Spirit, it's what we do. If you love dancing, we want you!

• Attention Volleyball Fans! Come on out to watch the men of Mustang Volleyball take on the Loyola Cubs at Loyola Marymount University. The first 100 students to come to the 7pm varsity game will get a free Costa Pride t-shirt to wear at the game.

• Student art finalists who submitted entries for the Neptunian Art Contest are requested to pick up their submission as soon as possible from the Guidance Office. Thank you, Ms. Gardner.

• The Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the 1st “Young Entrepreneurial Award” Any student demonstrating entrepreneurial spirit through starting their own business or non-profit will have the opportunity to submit an application for a $500.00 award.

• This year Reflections Club is holding cover design contest. Turn in any black/white submission to Room 18 or email to [email protected]. Winner will receive a $25 gift card to Pages Book Store!

• This is the last week to vote for California Young Reader Medal books. Come by the library to vote! Also come by the library to learn about our new collection of ebooks you can check out and read online and about our premium EasyBib account to help you with research citations.

• The library has a few more copies of Hunger Games now. Come by for a copy.

• Last day to sign up for the May 5th SAT Savvy Test Prep. Come to Room 18.

CLUBS / ORGANIZATION

• Animal Rights Club is collecting towels to donate to the Carson Animal Shelter. Drop off donations in the box in the main office, Room 43, or Room 46. Donations will be accepted until 4/13.

• Attention NHS members: The New Worlds Emerge organization has sent you personalized offers to apply for their travel programs. If interested, come to Room 32 to pick up your letter with more information.


SPORTS

• Come to the annual Costa vs Loyola volleyball match at LMU TONIGHT at 7pm.


SENIORS.

• Applications for Senior Graduation and Recognition speeches are available in the Guidance Office. They are due to Mrs. Lee-Iwai TODAY.

• The Neptunian Women’s Club Scholarship application due date has been moved up from April 11th to April 10th. Return applications and art/music samples to the CCC by April 10th in order to be considered.

• If you are planning on attending a UC or Cal State you may need to take placement tests in Math and/or English. The testing deadline for most Cal States is Sat., May 5th. The UC Testing day is Sat., May 12th. Be sure to check your campus to see if you are required to test!!! Additional information can be found on the CSU Mentor and UC websites.

• Get ready for Brain Tumor Awareness Week! It will be right after spring break, April 9-13. S- Club members will be selling bracelets for $1.00, so bring money! Proceeds will go to Brain Waves, a nonprofit which supports new kinds of research for pediatric brain tumors.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• PJ Test Prep is offering a free SAT or ACT test and tips seminar Saturday, April 7th. Register at www.pjtestprep.com or come to the CCC for more info.

• El Camino will be offering Math and English placement tests at MCHS on Monday, April 23rd and Tuesday, April 24th from 1-3pm. Students must have submitted their application to El Camino and have a student ID # in order to test. Sign up in the CCC. Space is limited.

• Marymount College-Tuesday, April 10, 1st period. Interested students can sign up on Naviance.
