English 5-6 H (Period 6)

English 5-6 Honors is a study of American Literature and the forces that have contributed to American ideals, goals, and culture. In addition to specific literary works, the course will emphasize both American literary history and specific literary movements. A close textual analysis of all works of literature will be emphasized through discussion, small group study, and individual writing. Students will maintain portfolios and use them as a tool to reflect on their own progress in writing. Students will also be expected to complete various research assignments throughout the year.

English 5-6 Honors is the second year of a three year Honors/A.P. English curriculum. Most students continue the program into senior A.P. English provided they meet the course requirements and expectations.
