AP Studio Art (Period 1)
Assignment Calendar
Course Description
The advanced placement program in Studio Art enables highly motivated students to perform at the college level while still in high school. The AP Studio Art portfolio is a performance-based exam rather than a written exam. The College Board offers three AP
portfolio exams: Two Dimensional Design, Drawing, and Three Dimensional Design. The portfolio is viewed as the culminating experience in a student's secondary visual art training.
Each portfolio requires submissions in three distinct sections designed to assess different aspects of student performance. The three sections of each portfolio are:
I Quality (development of a sense of excellence)
II Concentration (an in depth commitment to a particular artistic concern)
III Breadth (a variety of experiences in the formal, expressive and technical)
