Ceramics 1-2 (Period 5,6)

Course Description

This course is designed for beginning and advanced students in ceramics and 3-d design/sculpture. Projects will expose the students to hand building methods, wheel throwing, and surface treatments - (glaze, stain and surface decoration). Students will be required to keep records of each project, do written and sketch assignments exploring design basics and analyzing art forms, and explore ways to incorporate technology. Vocabulary of art terms will be taught throughout the course. All projects, tests, homework, class participation and extra credit will be graded on a point system. Each student will be required to attend an art gallery or museum and do a critique of the ceramics or sculpture.
