Literary Analyis Body Paragraph LOF example
Use this model to write your body paragraphs
claim evidence commentary handout
Before you write an essay on character change, Read the attached document on Claim, Evidence, and Commentary. Then, re-read the Icarus essay posted on Turnitin.com. Read the rubric on Turnitin.com and look at the features of your essay relative to the rubric. See if you can understand which areas of the Icarus essay need work.
Many students had NO EVIDENCE. If this is true for you, your first step should be to re-read the short story and COLLECT QUOTATIONS which might be useful in a character change essay. Find quotations which show your character's INTIAL Qualities. THEN find quotations which show the incident which CAUSED YOUR CHARACTER TO BEGIN TO CHANGE. Finally, find quotations which show the character's FINAL STATE.
Once you have all the quotations, it should be relatively easy to craft the body paragraphs which trace the character's transition from ONE WAY OF BEING to the FINAL STATE OR CONDITION.
We will be working on this essay for two weeks. It will be due on THURSDAY December 17.
