STUDENT INFO           

·      Incoming Juniors and Seniors finalizing classes with your counselors for next year: Honors Earth Science through UCLA is the class for you! Located right here at Mira Costa in Room 238, it is the only Dual Credit class (high school and college credit) at Mira Costa. The *transcript can earn you credit to another college, even if you do not go to UCLA. No AP exam. Four major fields of study are astronomy, oceanography, meteorology and geology! Boost your GPA! See Mr. Kurz, UCLA Instructor Honors Earth Science in Room 238 or email [email protected] for more details. Edutainer of the year 2003, 2005-2017. *College credit is optional; students should check transferability with the undergraduate admissions office at the college of their choice.

·      Attention Freshmen taking AP Euro next school year:  Mandatory meeting at lunch in Room 223 on Thursday, June 1 to discuss class details and assignments.

·      Make sure Club Leaders turn in Club Day forms! Club Day will be May 31, 2017 at 12:21 in the Mustang Mall.

·      Students may pick up lost and confiscated items from Prom in the admin office at snack or lunch only.

·      Saturdays are for the boys, but Fridays are inclusive to all genders. Come to TONIGHT’s Boys versus Girls Comedy Sportz Match at 7 pm in the Small Theater. Tickets are $5.

·      ALL STUDENTS! The 2017-18 Mira Costa Student Planner Cover Design Contest needs your designs NOW! See the MCHS website for more information and entry rules. Designs will be displayed and voted upon by faculty and students. Students with the three winning designs will receive prizes, compliments of the Student Store! Submit your vision of Costa to Carol Meeks in the Admin Office by TODAY! Get creative!

SENIORS

·      If you were unable to pick up your cap & gown on Thursday, see Ms. Gardner in the main office TODAY at snack, lunch or after school ONLY.

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

·      None.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·      *NEW* Applying to College 101 Series presented in the CCC:

            -Learn about Liberal Arts Colleges – May 30 at 2:00 pm

            -Understanding the Selective College Admission Process – May 31 at 6:00 pm

            -International and Out of State College Options – June 1 at 2:00 pm

This series will be most helpful for Juniors; however all are welcome to attend. Please RSVP on Naviance under “College Visits.”

·      SENIORS: All graduating seniors are required to complete the Senior Clearance process by submitting their post-high school plans. Please complete the following steps and submit copies immediately to the CCC:

    -If you are planning to enter a 4-year or Community College:

1. Updated Naviance college admissions results page. (Go to the College tab. For colleges that you did NOT end up applying to, mark as “withdrawn.” For colleges that you applied to and did not get into, mark “denied.” For colleges you applied to and got into, mark “accepted.” Finally, indicate which school you are going to at the bottom of the page.)

2. Completed senior survey (on Naviance, under the “About Me” tab)

3. Acceptance letter from the school you will be attending.

This process will ensure that your final transcript will be sent to the school you plan to attend in the fall.

    -If you are planning to work, enter the military, take a gap year, or travel:

1. Stop in the CCC to let us know your plans.
