STUDENT INFO

·      The Mira Costa Choirs Winter Concert, This Shining Night, will be performed in the MCHS auditorium on Friday, Dec. 14, at 7:00 pm; $10 suggested ticket donation at the door, students and seniors free. There will be a box set up outside the auditorium to collect donations of new toys, books, or stuffed animals for our holiday toy drive. Don't miss this wonderful night of choral singing. We look forward to sharing the talents of our amazing young singers with you at This Shining Night!

·      Costa Varsity Boys’ Basketball plays Palos Verdes Friday night, 12/14 @ 7:30pm at MBMS. Come out to support the team and get free Mendocino Farms food! We'll have a student tailgate at 6:45 pm with free Mendocino Farms sandwiches for the first 100 students, plus VOX DJs and the Dance Team at the game! Wear your green and gold. Go Costa!

·      Attention Costa! On the Monday before finals (12/17), Link Crew is hosting their annual stress-less dress-up PJ Day! We hope everyone (yes, including staff) will join us with their slippers, robes and cozy clothes in order to have a fun day right before finals.

·      The Mira Costa Student Store currently has a large assortment of Spirit Wear. We are open daily for students during nutrition and lunch, and by appointment for parents and other Costa fans. If you are looking for the perfect holiday gift, come and check us out!

SPORTS

·      Do you want to play for the Costa Badminton Team? Tryouts are January 9 and 10 at 4:00 to 5:30 pm. Come to Badminton Club for more details!

·      Swim Tryouts will be at 3 pm on Thursday, Dec. 13 at the Costa pool. There will be a makeup tryout at 7 am on Monday, Dec. 17 if you cannot make the regular tryout. Schedule: Warm-ups 2-2:45 pm; quick meeting at 2:45 pm; tryouts start at 3 pm. All swimmers who want to try out must download and fill out the 2018 Swim Team Tryout Form. You must email the completed form to Coach Ali ([email protected]) by 5 pm on Monday, Dec. 10. Check out www.mustangaquatics.org for more information on the 2018-19 Swim Season.

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

·      Come to the Support Our Students Club on Thursday at lunch in Room 234 to make cards/care packages for sick/injured Costa students!

·      Interested in joining Costa’s Badminton Team? Come to Badminton Club to learn more! Meetings are every Monday in Room332.

·      If you’re amazing, come to Drama Club Wednesdays at lunch in the Drama Room 1 for information and announcements and fun times.

·      Come to Improv Club (that means YOU, Will Bond and Hudson Carter) in Room 1 on Tuesdays (TODAY) at lunch! We need your suggestions, and you need our comedy. “Laugh out loud funny!” ««««« ̶ Rolling Stone (not a real quote)

·      Come to Drama Club every Wednesday at Room 1 for lunch for your Drama/Tech announcements and info. Interested in trying out for the musical? We’ve got all the info you need!

·      Come to the Give Back to the Children Project (GBCD) Club at lunch every Monday in Room 352 for volunteering opportunities at an official nonprofit charity that helps educate African children with today’s technology.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·      Schedule a one-on-one appointment with one of our credentialed college counselors. Call 310-318-7337 ext. 5253 or email [email protected].

·      College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign-up to attend on NAVIANCE. Please bring your school ID.

o   Wednesday, 12/12El Camino College at 9:51am (Sign up for an appointment timeslot in the CCC.)

·      SENIORS Visit the CCC for College Application Assistance:

o  College Personal Statement Revision – Please bring in a hard-copy of your essay if you would like feedback from one of the counselors. Typically essays are completed within 2-3 business days.

o  Walk-in Wednesdays for help with applications, essay revisions and to have your questions answered! No appointment necessary. Walk-In Hours are on Wednesdays, from 3 to 5 pm. *Update* - The CSU Application Deadline has been extended to 12/15/2018.

·      SoCal Roc is now enrolling for the Spring 2019 semester. Classes begin Monday, January 28. Come to the CCC to sign up and learn more about the classes we offer.
