STUDENT INFO

·         AIDS Benefit Auditions are TODAY! In the Drama Room 1 after sixth period (3:05 pm). See you there!

·         Mira Costa’s Got Talent! Come see the Talent Show Thursday, 1/31! You can buy your tickets from Mrs. Claypoole or any of the senior class officers (Liam Barberi, JoJo Hoffman, Ava Van’t Hof).

·         Students! Winter Formal will be held Feb. 9. Don’t miss your chance to Sail Away on a yacht in Marina del Rey. Purchase tickets NOW at the Student Store, or purchase a ticket voucher at the ASB Web Store.

·         Scholar Quiz Registration opens Feb. 6 at 6:00 am. Registration is On-Line at https://www.miracostahigh.org/apps/form/form.MIRCOSHS.qHectyo.hA. This link can be found under the Latest News section of the MCHS website. Selections will be made on a first-come, first-served basis, regardless of grade, and will be time stamped upon on-line registration. The Scholar Quiz dates are March 12, 13, 14, 15, 18, 20. Only 64 teams will be guaranteed entry. All others will be placed on a list of alternates. Questions? Contact Laurie Baker at [email protected].

·         Registration for AP Examinations is available online NOW through Feb. 8. Late Registration online will begin Friday, Feb. 1 at 3:00 pm. Walk-in registration will be available at the Student Store during LUNCH ONLY starting TODAY.  On-time registration: Jan. 28 – Feb. 1. Late registration: Feb. 4 – Feb. 8.

·         The California Scholarship Federation spring membership drive has been extended through Wednesday, January 30. Pick up applications in Room 243 during this time. Associate Membership will be open to freshmen during this drive. Remember Seniors, you need one semester of senior grades!

SENIORS

·      Senior CSF Members: Remember, you need one semester of senior grades to be a life member. Turn in your  application by this Wed., Jan. 30. If you are not eligible this semester, you may apply in May using your 2nd semester grades. But don’t wait if you are eligible now! As of Thursday 1/24, I did not have as many applications as I expected. – Karen Cunningham, CSF Adviser

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

·      Come to Drama Club in Room 1 for information on Senior Scenes, Fullerton, and the musical. Every Wednesday at lunch!

·      Come to Improv Club! Tuesdays at lunch in the Drama Room 1!

·      Come to Creative Writing Club TODAY at lunch to meet other writers and share your work! Room 46.

·      Do you want help with Physics homework, have questions, or want to learn cool stuff? Come to Physics Club in Room 237 Fridays (TODAY) at lunch.

·      Come to American Sign Language (ASL) Club on Fridays in Room 232 to learn new signs, make new friends, or just have fun eating yummy snacks. Can’t wait to see you there!”

·      Come to P.O.M. (Power of Music) Club in Room 78 every Thursday! We provide students with volunteer opportunities while spreading the joy of music to places that might not have access to it.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·      Schedule a one-on-one appointment with one of our credentialed college counselors. Call 310-318-7337 ext. 5253 or email [email protected].

·         College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign up to attend on NAVIANCE. Please bring your school ID.

o  Tuesday, 1/29 Santa Monica College during lunch at 12:20pm.

o  Wednesday, 1/30Marymount California University at 9:51am (AM Office Hours); El Camino College appointments - Make sure you are completing the tasks that are needed to qualify for Priority Registration. Come to the CCC to make an appointment to develop an Educational Plan or answer any questions you may have.  Appointments begin at 9:51am – 1:10pm, sign up in the CCC.

o  Thursday, 1/31U.S. Marine table outside the CCC during lunch (12:20pm).

·      Sophomores and Juniors

o  If you took the PSAT in October your printed score reports are now available for pick-up in the CCC.
