TODAY 2/14 Principal’s Tour at 9 am in the Admin Office; All-District Band Festival at 5 pm in the Auditorium; “Treats from the Heart Day/Sea of Love” – Bring treats to share with others & dress in Valentine’s Day apparel.

FRI 2/15 Coffee with the Counselors at 9 am in the Guidance Office Conference Room; MCHS Athletic Complex Groundbreaking Ceremony at 11 am; “Staff Appreciation Day/Fuzzy Friday” – Write a letter to a staff member you appreciate & dress in warm, comfy clothing.

STUDENT INFO

·         Auditions for Senior Scenes are this week, 2/11 – 2/15. More information on these can be found in the Drama Room 1 and on the drama Instagram @mchsdramatechdepartment.

·         Dodgeball Tournament: Sign-ups continue TODAY through Friday 2/15. Six players plus one alternate, $10 per team.

·         Calling all Radio Announcers and Broadcasters! Looking for an opportunity to get into sports broadcasting? Mira Costa Baseball is looking for someone to announce the home games. Contact Keith Ramsey, head coach at [email protected] if interested.

·         Sign up to participate in the last Art Night of the year! All students are invited to sell their artwork or crafts, or come to shop and participate in art activities. Art Night at Mira Costa will be held March 8 from 4 to 6 pm in the quad outside Room 109. All students, faculty and staff are invited to bring friends and family for a fun evening of art! Don’t miss out – sign up today!

·         The Neptunian Woman’s Club is sponsoring its 40th Student Art and Photography Contest for grades K-5 (art) and 6-12 (art and photography). Deadline for submission to the school office is Friday, May 10, 2019 before 3:00 pm. An awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 19 at 1:00 pm in the Neptunian clubhouse, Manhattan Beach. ·         Interested in being a speaker at Graduation or Senior Recognition Night? You may pick up an application from Ms. Sieker in Room 44 starting Friday, March 1!

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

·      Drama Club meeting at lunch every Wednesday in the Drama Room 1. Come for information on senior scenes, Comedy Sportz, and upcoming drama events!

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·      Schedule a one-on-one appointment with one of our credentialed college counselors. Call 310-318-7337 ext. 5253 or email [email protected]. *Juniors – the Spring Semester is an ideal time to meet with a CCC Counselor.

·      JUNIORS – Boeing Internship Opportunity Mira Costa High School Juniors have a unique opportunity to participate in a highly selective summer internship at Boeing. If you are interested in applying, it is mandatory that each student and a parent attend the information session on Tuesday, March 5th at 5:30PM in the CCC. It is required that you sign up on Naviance.

·      College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign up to attend on NAVIANCE. Please bring your school ID.

·      SoCal Roc – The SoCalRoc Counselor is available in the CCC on Monday mornings to share program information and help you register for classes. *Update*– The Spring enrollment deadline has been extended to Thursday, Feb 14. Sign up in the CCC to learn more.

·      Free Practice ACT or SAT on Campus

Revolution Prep is offering a FREE full-length SAT or ACT at Mira Costa – Choose either test. Saturday, March 2 at 9am – 12:30pm; Mira Costa High School – Rooms 14 and 16. Bring: pencils, calculator, water and a snack.
