STUDENT INFO

·         Off Grounds Stickers are available in the admin office for students who have an excused period (other than a zero period). Bring your current ID to the office before or after school, or during snack or lunch ONLY.  Please note: Off grounds stickers will not be given to students with an excused period in the middle of the school day.

·         Attention all Juniors & Seniors! Looking to register to vote in the U.S. presidential election? Stop by the ASB student store at lunch on Tuesday, Sept. 24 or during AM Office hours on Wednesday, Sept. 25 to register.

·         Thailand 2020 meeting again in Room 234 on 9/10 and 9/17. Come learn about this trip during Spring Break 2020. Space is available! Thai food will be served!

·         The 2020 Spring Break trip to South Korea is underway! Please come to Room 202 for an information session on Friday, Sept. 13 during lunch. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.

·         Students: If you purchased an ASB Marker and do not see the ASB Logo in the bottom left corner of your student ID, please present it to Mrs. Cessor in the ASB Finance Office for your updated card. If you do not present your current card, you will need to pay $10 for the updated ID. Students who lost their IDs may also receive a reprint for $10 at the ASB Finance Office. Many lost IDs have been turned in there. If you are missing yours, please stop by to see if it’s there.

·         Comedy Sportz callbacks are TODAY in Room 1 at 1 pm!

·         It is never too late to join the Frosh Football team! Any interested freshman should see Coach Currier on the Meadows practice field between 2:30 and 4:30 pm Monday through Wednesday, or email him at [email protected]. No previous experience needed. Let’s get you started!

·         Golf Scramble! First Annual 2019 event to benefit the Mira Costa High School Band Program on Sunday, Oct. 13 at Los Verdes Golf Course in Rancho PV. Open to all golfers, all levels, all friends. Foursome scramble team event format. Sign up as a single, or make your own team. Cost is $110 per person, includes golf fee, cart, prizes and box lunch. SENIORS

·         If you were awarded a parking pass in last June’s lottery, please complete the necessary paperwork and claim your pass at the ASB Finance Office. Those who do not complete the process by TODAY will forfeit their opportunity for student parking this year. Please check the email address you used to register for the parking lottery and follow those instructions. Any questions, see Mrs. Cessor in the ASB Finance Office.

SPORTS

·         Girls’ Lacrosse will have tryouts 9/9, 9/10, and 9/11 from 3 to 4:30 pm on the West Field. Bring your lacrosse stick, mouth guard, cleats and running shoes.

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

·         Join Latino Scholars Union on Tuesdays at lunch in Room 73 for music, food, events, community service and open discussions!

·         Come to American Sign Language Club TODAY in Room 74 to learn a language through fun games and conversation!

·         Please join the South Bay Food Initiative at Project Chicken Soup on Sunday, Sept. 15 to cook and/or pack lunches from 8 am to 12 pm. You can earn four hours of community service. For more information or to sign upk, please visit www.southbayfoodinitiative.com.

·         Are you in Health class and in need of community service hours? Do you want to make a positive impact on our community? Join Key Club on Mondays starting Sept. 9 in Room 48!

·         Interested in women’s empowerment and spicing up your college resume? Join S-Club every Monday in Room 45.

·         Mira Costa Gender Sexuality Alliance meets every Thursday at lunch in Room 23, Mr. Zeoli’s room. Meet a group of loving and supportive people, engage in activist work to help make campus a more accepting environment, and raise funds for various charities and organizations.

·         Are you interested in learning about our justice system, improving your public speaking skills, or becoming a lawyer? Your LAST chance to join the MCHS Mock Trial Team is Thursday, Sept. 12. Come see Mr. Zeoli in Room 23 if you have any questions or email [email protected].

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·         College Essays – If you’d like a CCC counselor to revise your personal statement or personal insight questions, bring by a double-spaced copy to the CCC. Be sure to include your name, email, and the prompt to which you are responding.

·         College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign up to attend on NAVIANCE. Please bring your school ID.

·         JUNIORS AND SOPHOMORES - ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR THE PSAT IS OPEN NOW through September 17. 

The test will begin at 7:00am on October 30 at MCHS. To register online, please go the MCHS website and click on the MCHS ASB Webstore in the upper right-hand corner or use this link: https://mchswebstore.myschoolcentral.com.

In-person registration (cash or check to MCHS only) will be available September 10, 11, 12, and 13 in the CCC. On-time Registration cost is $25. Your final opportunity for LATE registration will be September 16 and 17 online or in person in the CCC. Late registration cost is $35. After you register online, bring your receipt to the CCC to pick up your PSAT Study Guide. Please contact the CCC (ext. 5253) with any questions.
