FACULTY
· Please release the following students this week: FRI 11/22 – Girls’ Tennis (Varsity) at 8 am
· A Huge Shout Out to all of you who participated in raising money for the homeless. Thus far, we have raised over $1,500 and counting. That will feed at least 750 people a hot meal. Thank you for the gift of giving.
· Any homeroom that hasn’t had their homeless donation bucket collected please let Ms. Vaughan know, or send it to Room 207. Thank you again for helping our suffering Skid Row neighbors.
STUDENT INFO
· The Grammy Award Winning Mira Costa Orchestras present The Winter Concert on Dec. 6 at 7 pm in the Auditorium. Enjoy music by Bizet, Holst, Borodin and Leonard Bernstein’s iconic “Jeremiah” Symphony! Tickets available at the door.
· Mira Costa Dance Team presents Lip Sync! Come watch the best of the best battle for 1st place prize money and bragging rights! The show is TONIGHT at 7 pm in the Auditorium. Tickets are $5. Purchase from ASB, a dance team member or at the door.
· Costa Clean-Up Day is Saturday, Dec. 7 from 9 am – 1 pm. Please come help clean the campus! Check in at Room 41. Wear comfortable clothes! Gloves and tools will be provided.
· Attention CSF Students: CSF membership cards have been passed out to your 2nd period teacher’s mailbox. If your teacher has not passed them out, please give them a courteous reminder. If you still have not received your membership card, then please see Ms. Cunningham Some students forgot to list their 2nd period teacher, so those envelopes are in my office, Room 349.
· Art 1 presents their first Art Show of the year, with a collection of Basquiat-inspired paintings. Come see their work all week in the Art Gallery Room 60.

SPORTS
· Boys’ Tennis will be holding tryouts at Mira Costa tennis courts from 3 to 5:30 pm on the following days: New Players, 12/2 – 12/5; Returning Players, 12/3 – 12/5; 12/6 if needed.
· Swim Team Tryouts are Dec. 9. Warm-up/check-in starts at 2 pm and the tryout starts at 3 pm. If you are interested in trying out for the team or have any questions, please see Coach Halushka in Room 56 at snack or lunch, at the pool during 6th period, or email him at [email protected].
SENIORS
· Senior Class shirts are available for $5 in Room 40 at snack and lunch!
· Attention Seniors! If you have not yet submitted your votes for senior superlatives, Friday 11/22 is the last day to do so. You can find the Google form in your MBUSDapps email.
CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS
· Guess what? At 7 pm this Friday, the 22nd, in the small theater for 5 dollars, is a Comedy Sportz Match! To laugh and have fun … COME!
· The Medical Society Club will be hosting its first Sock Drive for homeless at the Greater Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Hospital. Please donate a pack of warm, long socks to Room 332 by Friday, 11/22 to keep homeless veterans warm for the winter.
· If Ghandi were alive today, he would say…JOIN HEART CLUB! Every Friday at lunch in Room 56.
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

· College Essays – If you’d like a CCC counselor to revise your personal statement or personal insight questions, bring a double-spaced copy to the CCC. Be sure to include your name, email, and the prompt to which you are responding. If you have any essays to be reviewed prior to the Nov. 30th deadline, please submit them to the CCC TODAY.
· *SENIORS* The UC & CSU Application closes on Nov. 30. The CCC is closed the week of Thanksgiving Break, which overlaps that deadline. Please make sure to visit us this week prior to the break (11/18 - 11/22) with any questions.
· ACT v SAT Workshop - Join us in the CCC on Wednesday, December 4th at 5:30PM for a workshop about SAT and ACT. The Princeton Review will help you answer: Should I take the SAT or ACT? This program goes over both tests and helps students know what they need to do to prepare for and get a great score on the SAT or the ACT. This workshop is intended for current juniors, but all grade levels are welcomed to attend. Please sign-up on Naviance or in the CCC.
· College Representative Visits in the CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign up to attend on NAVIANCE. Please bring your school ID.
