STUDENT INFO           

·        Yearbook and Senior Ad prices will be rising Nov. 1. Get yours before the prices go up! Current Prices: Yearbook $85 with ASB Marker or $105 without; Senior Ads are Full page: $330, Half Page $230, ¼ page $130. Purchases can be made at the Mira Costa Student Store or our ASB WebStore.

·        This is the last day for Dodgeball sign-ups. Sign-ups will be held in the ASB Room 40. Bring $5 for your team of six!

·        It’s time for the annual PTSA Reflections Art Contest. Contest rules and forms are in the Admin Office or available from your Visual and Performing Arts teacher. Submit any art entry to Ms. Gardner in the Admin Office. Deadline is Thursday, Nov. 10. PTSA will pick up entries on Monday, Nov. 14.

FACULTY

  • Attention teachers: Sign your classes up to see Costa’s first-ever Hispanic Heritage Assembly on Wednesday, Oct. 26 during 2nd period, hosted by the MCHS Latino Scholars Union. This assembly will be located in the auditorium and will feature a mariachi band, ballet folklórico, guest speaker Danny Olivas, and more! This is an assembly you don’t want to miss!

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

·        Come to the Library this Friday to use the 3D printers and design 3D objects.

·        Do you like freedom and cookies? Come to Young Republicans Club in Room 207 tomorrow!

·        Come to Leo Club every Monday (TODAY) in Room 75 to get community service hours and make new friends. Everyone is welcome!

·        Want to become a published author? Come to Reflections on Mondays at Room 207.

·        Did you come from another school district? Bring your lunch and come to Ambassador Club TODAY at lunch in Room 21 to meet other students and become better acquainted with the school. Let’s have a great year!

·        Black Scholars Union meets every Thursday in Room 74 at lunch. We have several new initiatives for this year that we would love for you to be a part of. All new members are welcome!

·        Are you a fan of K-Pop? Come join us! K-Pop Club United starts on Oct. 25 at lunch in Room 52. It will be on every Tuesday. Hope to see you there.

·        Come to Lend a Hand Club on Fridays at lunch in Room 72 to find out when our next trip is to Skid Row to feed the homeless!

·        Monday is the last day for Dodgeball Tournament sign ups. Remember to bring $5 on Monday and sign up in the ASB Room (40) at lunch. There will be six people per team with one alternate.

·        Come to the Fellowship of Christian Athlete’s Club in Mr. Chow’s Room 47 on Thursdays at lunch!

·        Mental Health Awareness Club: Come to Room 21 Tuesdays to learn about mental health and, more importantly, how to spread awareness about these struggles.

·        HOMEROOMS: Remember to donate your spare change to the orange UNICEF Trick-or-Treat boxes. The homeroom that raises the most money will get a donut party on 10/28!

·         CCC Updates

The CCC will now be open from 8 am – 7 pm Monday-Thursday and 8 am – 5 pm on Fridays. We hope you can take advantage of the extra hours and our extended services.

*FAFSA Information Session – 5:30-6:30pm on Tuesday, 10/25. Go to the CCC Calendar on the MCHS website to sign-up.

*College Application Workshop Wednesdays from 2:00-7:00pm. Walk in and work on your college applications and personal statements with support from a CCC counselor. Bring a device or reserve one in the CCC.

*Ninth Grade Planning Meetings in the CCC – on multiple dates to accommodate small groups: Evening meetings (6-7pm) on 10/ 20, 27; 11/1, 9, 15; 12/1, 5, 14.   Daytime meetings: (9-10am) on 11/7, 17, 12/8, 9, 13.  Topics include:  9th grade planning, 4-year planning graduation requirements, A-G College entrance requirements, academic goals, extracurricular activities, and how to stay in touch.  Go to the CCC Calendar on the MCHS website to sign-up.

** The CCC will close at 3:30pm on 10/31, 11/4, 11/16, and 12/7, please plan accordingly.

·         SCROC is now enrolling for its 9-week courses. Classes begin Monday, Nov. 14. Sign up in the Career Center to speak with a SCROC advisor and pick up an application.

·            Test Prep Resources:

o  Revolution Prep is offering free online practice tests. Sign up using this link: https://www.revolutionprep.com/jk-practice-test. Download practice tests and take them in the comfort of your own home.

o  PJ Test Prep is offering Free SAT/ACT Tests on Saturday, Nov. 19 and Sunday, Dec. 4 starting at 10:00am. Take the test and return after a short break to get the results, and learn free test strategy tips. Location for both dates is the Holiday Inn Express, Hermosa Beach. RSVP at www.pjtestprep.com/rsvp.
