Costa's Model UN Competes Globally

In December, a select group of Mira Costa students showed off its talents on a world stage. Debating in the actual United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) building, 15 Mira Costa Model United Nations delegates represented their school at Paris Model United Nations (PAMUN) 2012, an international conference put on from Dec. 7-9 by the American School of Paris.

Mira Costa delegates excelled at PAMUN, with 11 of the 15 students winning awards, including five Best Delegate awards, four honorable mentions and two student advocates who won their case before the International Court of Justice. While in Paris, students were able to visit many of the city's cultural and historic sites, including the palace at Versailles, the Louvre and Pompidou museums and even a quick trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower.
Mira Costa MUN hopes to carry the momentum gained from PAMUN into 2013. The team will be competing in the Ivy League Model United Nations Conference (ILMUNC) in Philadelphia in late January and at the National High School Model UN tournament in New York in March.
